[Project No.213 Lloyd Yard+Babel Lloydpier] Look closely, and you'll notice both buildings are shaped around their outdoor space.

Lloyd Yard and Babel are two distinct developments on Rotterdam's Lloydpier, once the nucleus of the Port of Rotterdam. Lloyd Yard is five blocks arranged around a shared garden, holding 136 homes above a sunken garage. Babel stacks 24 homes like a pyramid, each level stepping back to form a private terrace for the home above.

The model captures this in detail, the shared courtyard at Lloyd Yard, opening toward the river, and the private terraces stepping down through Babel. At this scale, that detail becomes the whole point, it's what lets you see how people would actually live in these buildings, not just how they would look from outside.

[Project No.187 VDMA] A whole neighbourhood, held in the hand.

VDMA takes its name from Van der Meulen Ansems, the garage once located here. Among the proposal's ideas is the Roofscraper, a horizontal high-rise element designed to hover above the site like a cloud.

This model holds a plan of 75,000m2 in 42 x 29 x 14cm scale. We dared to omit detail, reducing most of the neighbourhood to plain white volumes, while the historic garage and matchbox factory remain in warm wood, structure still visible under the new towers. Every rooftop and gap between buildings is condensed into something readable at a glance.

[Project No.238 Studios 070 + Katwolder] Two models, two cities, two different scales, yet they share the same visual language. Simplicity, clarity, and refinement.

Both buildings sit at the edge of their cities, adding density where density was needed. Studios 070 transforms a former warehouse in The Hague into 90 compact student residences. De Katwolder brings the count of homes on a Zwolle site from 23 to 84, with a commercial ground floor below. Both are designed around a shared inner garden, a place for residents to meet.

Around each building, the surrounding context is represented in plain wood, left simple and unfinished. It's a quiet choice, one that lets the real subject, the building itself, hold the eye.

[Project No.207 Nassau Bergen] Tiny figures on the beach, buildings reflected in still water, sand still warm from the summer. This is what the model shows, and it happens to be the season we're in too.

A renovation plan for a hotel by the sea.

At 1:500, the model sets the hotel within its full coastal terrain, dunes, beach, and water meeting the building's curved form. At a very different scale, the 1:20 cutaway strips the same hotel down to its frame, wood mullions and a single figure standing inside, showing what the interior would have felt like to actually stand in.

[Project No. 241 TUe] A sweeping view from every angle, two towers and a low-rise village, all cast in the same neutral colors.

This is the student campus of Eindhoven University of Technology. Two residential towers with 278 and 371 homes stand alongside a low-rise village of 86 homes arranged around shared courtyards. Together they house around 800 students. Beyond the numbers, the campus was designed around community, with shared spaces built to bring neighbors together and counter loneliness.

At this scale, abstraction becomes a tool. Two towers, one village, one relationship between them, and the model strips away ornament and color so the underlying typology becomes impossible to miss.

[Project No.266 SoZa] A large model for a large redevelopment. 75-meter towers rise from what will become a new mixed-use district in The Hague.

SoZa transforms the former Ministry of Social Affairs building at Laan van NOI into a new district for up to 1,200 households. A new lane now cuts between the buildings, opening the once-closed site to a city park and water feature beyond.

At 142 x 85 x 52cm, this is a substantial model, large enough to hold the detail that a smaller scale would flatten. Individual balconies, facade rhythm, the texture of the green roofs: all still visible, all still legible, even across a project this size.

[Project No.106 Vlotwateringbrug] Look closely at the underside of the deck, and you'll find something unusual, carved grooves and rough openings, built for a very specific kind of visitor.

This bridge, officially called Vlotwateringbrug, was designed as a habitat for several species of bats using the Vlotwatering as a flight route. One end stays cool and stable through winter. The underside of the deck offers shelter for raising young and mating in summer. It's located in Westland, part of a green route connecting local towns.

To reveal what's normally hidden, we placed a mirror beneath the model as a stand-in for water, doubling the bridge and exposing its underside, the very part built for the bats.

[Project No.319 People Power Plant Smart Mobility Hub] Same project, new scale. From the neighborhood-wide view of People Power Plant, this model zooms into a single stop, the mobility hub.

A solar-powered hub by Drop Mobility, where shared e-bikes charge and dock, is one physical point where mobility and decentralized energy meet.

Unlike the earlier presentation model, this one is built to be checked against reality, real dimensions, real sightlines, and how a person actually stands and reaches for a bike.

Summer Greetings from Studio KU+

Throughout the first half of 2026, we developed a diverse range of models, from large-scale urban development projects shaped in collaboration with multiple architects and developers to a mobility-focused presentation model featuring functioning moving vehicles.

Each was approached with the same meticulous attention, precision, and craftsmanship across a wide range of scales and applications.

Starting next week, the studio will be closed for the summer holiday. We look forward to returning with renewed energy to take on new projects.

[Project No.321 Landjuweel] Four blocks, each facade a careful horizontal rhythm of balconies and warm timber-toned cladding. From a distance, the four blocks read as a coherent whole.

LandJuweel in Amstelveen is a modular timber construction, an energy-positive residential complex of 160 affordable mid-range apartments, set within a green environment.

Small enough to sit on a table, but the facade carries enough detail to judge the full architectural intention, how the timber cladding will feel at street level, block by block.
