Tompouce Is a cream-filled rectangular pastry and is characterized by a layer of smooth pink icing on top. The tompouce is strictly regulated to ensure consistency in size, shape and colour. Although during Kings Day (27th of April) the tompouce has bright orange icing on. top.

Cafe De Dokter opened its doors in 1798 and quickly became a popular spot for medical students and doctors as the owner was a surgeon from a local hospital. This café is about 18 m2 making it the smallest café in Amsterdam. Café de Dokter offers an excellent selection of house wines and fine whiskeys as well as Grolsch beer.

Café De Dokter, in de volksmond “Het Doktertje”, is op 2 september 1798 gesticht door een chirurgijn van het toenmalig Binnengasthuis in Amsterdam en vanaf dat jaar uitgebaat als proeflokaal en café door de familie Beems.

In 2009, when the building of our other hotel: Canal Boutique Rooms & Apartments, was renovated, some of the original architectural features—like the beautifully detailed, painted beams in the photo—were discovered from the time when the building was first constructed during the 1620s.

At our hotel we serve water from the Dutch company . They donate 100% of their net profit to help finance water projects around the world. They invest money in sustainable water systems in areas in which this is needed the most.

During the month April the Tulip festival takes place. Throughout Amsterdam on 85 locations tulips have been planted (from public places to gardens of museums and hotels). Amsterdam Canal Hotels had 30 TVs leftover, therefore we decided to give these TVs to charity. The TVs are going to families who cannot afford them.

Since January we started using the Tripl as transportation for all the materials needed in our different locations. The Tripl is emission free and has a loading capacity of 200 kg.

Café Hoppe is the best place to be for a drink in Amsterdam. Here you can still find amazing hospitality housed in a national monument. Founded in 1670, Hoppe was originally a distillery and even in today’s pub you can still find the beautiful details of its historic past. On Friday locals go here for their (Friday afternoon drink) to relax after a busy working week.
