From 24 May to August 30 our neighbour café/restaurant/urban beach Pllek in Amsterdam Noord is hosting an open-air cinema. The summer open-air screenings take place every Tuesday and begin after sunset, so usually between 21:30 and 22:00. The programming is a mix between effortlessly masterful cult classics, arthouse gems and world cinema. Snuggle up on a beanbag or with a blanket and enjoy the cinematic summer!

Please note that no advance bookings are taken, however, special headphones are required and those do have to be reserved via email to [email protected] (cost: €5).

On 17, 18 and 19 June, about 25 gardens of private owners as well as public institutions in Amsterdam will be open to the public, some of them for the first time during the Open Garden Days.

Aficionados will have a unique opportunity to stroll along the city’s green oases, formal parterres, flowering plants and remarkable garden houses and ornaments.

The gardens will be open all three days from 10 am to 5 pm. The three-day-pass is valid for all particpating gardens during the event. More info: www.opentuindagen.nl

Yes! Good Hotels won their first international award. Pretty awesome!

We won the REBEL award in the category greatest innovation/disruption at LE Miami - a yearly travel trade event hosted by Travel+Leisure and Morgan's Hotel Group in Miami, Florida.

Other nominees for the award were W hotels (who was nominated because of their partnership with will.i.am and Coca Cola's EKOCYCLE) and Salt Hotels (who created Salt School).

In total there were 6 rebel-awards awarded in different categories. Other winners this year are:
- the Knickerbocker Hotel, New York for most original campaign
- Mondrian, South Beach for most creative collaboration
- Ace Hotel, New York for best interaction with neighborhood
- Refinery Hotel, New York for greatest guest experience
- Soho House, Istanbul for sexiest design

Not to be missed visiting Amsterdam: the solo exhibition of photographer Jimmy Nelson in Galerie Rademakers. During this exhibition ‘Jimmy’s VIP’ images will be presented from the ‘Very Important People’ in Jimmy Nelson’s life. With his photography he wants to express his unrelenting enthusiasm for life.

Rademakers Gallery also shows portraits of indigenous cultures which the photographer made for his project and book ‘Before They Pass Away’.

The exhibition runs from 13 May until 19 June.
