Holiday cottage in the heart of the Dutch polders.

In the heart of the polders surrounded by open fields full of cows and sheep, the cottage is your base for exploring the countryside, the windmills of Kinderdijk, the market town of Gouda, and the modern port city of Rotterdam.

To bring the roof up to spec with regards to insulation, the roof was removed, insulation added and then the original roof tiles put back on. To look at it now, you would never know that it'd been touched.

Knocking out the new patio doors to the garden was a convenient way to get the rubble out of the cottage. And it also got its own front door for the first time.

The first step was to gut the cottage, to clear everything out, the walls, the ceiling, and eventually the concrete floor was dug out too.

It's hard to see from this photo of a photo, but there is the cottage and barn to the right edge of the picture. Taken by a neighbour from up a electricity pylon, the photo shows us, the neighbour opposite, and the diary farm on the corner.
