10 years ago, TUI Academy set out to open new pathways through tourism 👇

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of TUI Academy - our global programme supporting young people from underserved communities with vocational training, practical learning and pathways into employment and entrepreneurship in tourism.

Since its launch in 2016, TUI Academy and TUI e-Academy have trained more than 27,000 young people around the world. 🎓

Behind this milestone are thousands of individual journeys: students gaining confidence, graduates taking their first steps into work, and partners helping create more inclusive tourism destinations through education and training.

As we celebrate a decade of TUI Academy, we are also looking ahead. With the launch of a new TUI Academy in Senegal, the programme is expanding its reach to the coastal region of Mbour, where young people will gain access to vocational hospitality and tourism training, entrepreneurship support and life skills development.

Together with local vocational training institute Critérium, TUI Academy Senegal will support more than 250 young people and women, combining classroom learning with practical training opportunities to strengthen employability and support the sustainable development of the local tourism sector. 🌍

Meet Neviene - a passionate culinary talent and a proud TUI Academy Jamaica graduate, now building the future she always dreamed of. 👩‍🍳

Raised by a single father who balanced farming with caring for three children, she learned how to cook out of necessity. But guided by her father's lessons, she soon discovered that every meal she prepared brought her joy.

That's when her dream of becoming a professional chef was born. But her family's financial struggles meant that she had to give up high school education and formal culinary training.

Neviene never let go of her dream of becoming a chef. This determination eventually led her to TUI Academy Jamaica, where, in partnership with Invest Jamaica, free vocational education empowers young people with hospitality skills and qualifications. 🎓

After completing her internship and graduating from TUI Academy Jamaica, Neviene became a proud line cook at Club Mobay. And she's not only a certified cook - she's also a role model to her son. 💙

💭 "When he's at school, he's always telling people, 'My mother is a chef!'. He's just very happy for me," she shared, adding, "I feel so good that I can finance my son's education, give him things that I never had when I was younger, be a good mom, and let him know to never give up, that it's never too late for anything. I'm a living proof that he can pursue his dream. No matter how old he is, he can go to school, get his certificates, and be what he wants to be in life".

We told you to keep an eye on Ben’Imana. 🎬✨

After making history as the first film by a Rwandan director selected for Cannes' Official Selection, Marie Clémentine Dusabejambo's Ben'Imana has now won the prestigious Caméra d'Or for Best First Feature. 🏆

Supported through the TUI Care Foundation Award of the World Cinema Fund, Ben’Imana brings a powerful Rwandan story of reconciliation, identity and healing to audiences around the globe.

But this achievement is about more than a film award. 👇

From the very beginning, the project was designed to create opportunities behind the camera as well as on screen. During production, it supported hundreds of local jobs and brought together predominantly African cast and crew members, strengthening skills, professional networks and the continent's creative film industry. 💡

Congratulations to director Marie Clémentine Dusabejambo, the producers, cast, crew and everyone who helped bring Ben’Imana to life.

Ben'Imana is a powerful reminder that behind every great film is an opportunity to strengthen local talent, build creative industries and connect cultures. 🌍

A new chapter of forest restoration is beginning in Navarra, Spain 🌳

The TUI Care Foundation is launching TUI Forest Navarra, a new two-year initiative with Land Life Company to restore fire-damaged land near the Bardenas Reales Natural Park - a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of the region’s most important nature-based tourism destinations.

After a devastating wildfire in July 2022 destroyed 90% of vegetation across the area, the landscape has faced growing risks of erosion, habitat loss and long-term damage to biodiversity.

Now, TUI Forest Navarra will help restore over 90 hectares of fire-affected land by planting and naturally regenerating 67,000 native trees, improving land management and creating new habitats for endangered wildlife, including lesser kestrels and little owls. 🦉

But this is not only about bringing trees back.

More than 1,400 local people will be involved in conservation activities - from students joining tree planting sessions to elderly community members sharing traditional land management knowledge. The project will also support nature-based tourism through educational trails that help visitors understand how landscapes recover after fire. 🌳

Every day should be World Sea Turtle Day. 🐢

Across the year, together with our TUI Turtle Aid programme partners, we’re working to protect nesting beaches, rescue and rehabilitate injured sea turtles, help hatchlings reach the sea and give these ancient mariners a fighting chance.

Every action, big or small, helps create a safer future for sea turtles.

Are you ready to show up for them too? 💙

What happens when LGBT+ entrepreneurs are given the networks, visibility and support to shape the future of tourism? 👇

For many, it opens the door to something bigger.

The TUI Care Foundation and the IGLTA Foundation have launched an additional cohort of TUI Futureshapers Global: LGBT+ Travel Innovators, continuing their joint commitment to supporting LGBT+ entrepreneurs from emerging and underserved destinations worldwide.

Building on the success of the first cohort, which supported 26 entrepreneurs from more than 20 countries across five continents, the programme combines business training, one-to-one mentoring and access to international tourism networks. 🚀

From strengthening Afro-q***r tourism in Brazil, to expanding inclusive travel experiences for q***r women in East Africa, to connecting LGBT+ travellers with welcoming businesses across the Caribbean - the first cohort showed how entrepreneurship can help create safer, more representative and community-led travel experiences.

Now, the next cohort will continue this journey.

Through practical training in business development, leadership, branding, finance and strategic partnerships, the programme supports LGBT+ tourism entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, increase their visibility and contribute to a more inclusive tourism industry. 🤝

Because when more voices are supported in tourism, more travellers can feel seen, welcomed and represented.

Ocean conservation progress doesn’t happen on its own - it’s driven by the people taking action every day. 💙

🪸 Yes, it’s restored coral reefs.
But it’s also divers carefully growing, planting and monitoring every coral fragment.

🥚 Yes, it’s turtle hatchlings safely reaching the sea.
But it’s also local teams protecting nests, raising awareness and giving baby turtles a stronger chance at life.

🐢 Yes, it’s healthy adult sea turtles swimming freely.
But it’s also experts, volunteers and partners rescuing and rehabilitating injured animals.

🎨 Yes, it’s beautiful products made from waste.
But it’s also people collecting, cleaning and transforming discarded materials into something new.

🏖️ Yes, it’s cleaner beaches and coastlines.
But it’s also volunteers and local partners removing waste from the shore and seabed before it can harm marine life.

🦭 Yes, it’s protecting marine biodiversity.
But it’s also teams raising awareness, sharing knowledge and helping people understand how to protect vulnerable species.

Protecting our environment starts with understanding it 🌱

This World Environment Day, as the global focus turns to climate action and the choices we make for our shared future, we’re highlighting the role of education in creating long-term change.

Through the TUI Care Foundation programmes, more than 836,000 people in tourism destinations around the world are learning about the environmental challenges affecting the places they call home - and gaining the tools to help protect them.

Because when people are informed, empowered and supported, environmental action can grow from awareness into everyday solutions. 🌍

What if a city tour could open the door to someone’s story? 💡

Earlier this year, we introduced inspiring women from the TUI Futureshapers London project who are reimagining what it means to experience a city.

Through their tours, they shared stories of Syrian heritage, Palestinian culture, Iberian history and Saudi hospitality, offering visitors a more personal, diverse and authentic way to discover London. 🏙️

Now, this success is becoming the foundation for something bigger.

Building on the success of TUI Futureshapers London and in partnership with Women in Travel CIC, we're launching a new TUI Futureshapers Women City Guides initiative to support 40 women in London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Berlin to develop their own community-centred tours and build income-generating careers as city tour creators and guides.

The programme combines storytelling, tour design, responsible tourism, practical guiding skills and business mentoring, helping women from diverse backgrounds turn their knowledge, culture and perspectives into meaningful tourism experiences. 🗺️
