Dear Diary,
What a weekend!

Sunshine. Wonderful guests. Mostly happy faces. Delicious food. A very special atmosphere. Moments filled with peace, joy, and relaxation. And above all: enriching encounters and conversations that stay with us.

Working in the hotel industry is not always easy. It is intense, time-consuming, and requires a great deal of attention, mindfulness, and passion. Every day brings new challenges. Yet all the positive feedback we receive, and all the special moments we are fortunate enough to share with our guests, give us so much energy and joy that we wake up every morning with gratitude and look forward to the day ahead.

Today, I told two guests that I could see so much joy, love, and honesty in their eyes. The answer was: "That is reflected back." This sentence touched me deeply.

Because perhaps when we look at another person, we do not only see what they radiate. Perhaps we also encounter a reflection of what we ourselves carry within us and what we bring into the world. To me, it felt like a small seal of confirmation – a loving reminder that the way we see the world always says something about our own hearts. And a reminder that, as guests and hosts, we create special moments together. It is not a one-sided relationship. It is a giving and receiving, a mutual gift of time, attention, and humanity.

These are exactly the moments that enrich us, inspire us, and remain in our memories forever. They are moments of genuine, unconditional kindness and authentic connection. Moments in which we do not only give, but also receive so much in return.

We had the privilege of spending a wonderful time with a couple from Germany. The connection that developed in such a short time was something truly special. At the end, there were even tears – tears of joy, gratitude, and connection.

We could not be more grateful. We love what we do – although we do not really see it as work. Because we are hosts. We create a home – just on a slightly larger scale.

Our guests sometimes become friends, and sometimes even become part of our family. Some people touch our hearts, even though the time we share with them may be brief.

When reading or writing a review about our hotel, it is important to focus on aspects that the hotel can actually influence.

Our hotel can influence:

Cleanliness of the rooms and public areas
Friendliness and helpfulness of our staff
Quality of our service
Comfort and maintenance of the facilities
Accuracy of the information we provide

Our hotel cannot influence:

The temperature of the fjord
Traffic or noise outside the hotel
Other guests' behavior
Individual preferences that differ from person to person

Before your stay, we also encourage guests to read the information provided about our hotel. For example, if it is clearly stated that our hotel does not have an elevator, this should not come as a surprise and is not something that can be changed during your stay.

A fair and helpful review describes your personal experience while focusing on aspects that the hotel can improve. This helps us continue to provide excellent service and gives future guests realistic and useful information.

And do you know what the most beautiful part of working in a hotel is?

Walking through the house and seeing our guests enjoying their time together; no matter the weather.

Just a moment ago, I passed through our library and found four of our guests sitting together. A little history lesson in the making. One was reading aloud from one of our historic books, sharing old yet no less beautiful words, while the other three listened with quiet attention and genuine curiosity. One of them was even knitting meditatively as they listened.

Moments like these are what make this place so special.☺️🥰

For en fantastisk kveld sammen med Vamp!

Tusen takk for at vi fikk gleden av å arrangere denne flotte sommerkonserten i hagen vår.

En stor takk til de over 400 gjestene som delte denne spesielle kvelden med oss – og også til dere som fulgte konserten fra båtene på fjorden og heiet på oss derfra.

Tusen takk til Vamp for en fantastisk konsert og en helt spesiell stemning. Og takk til alle som har gjort denne kvelden mulig – fra scenebygging og teknikk til servering og ivaretakelse av crewet. Til alle som har bidratt med tid, innsats og engasjement: Dere er helt fantastiske!

Og ikke minst – takk for det utrolige sommerværet. For den vakre kulissen. For en sommerkonsert med utsikt som vi sent vil glemme.

Vi er stolte. Stolte over å kunne skape slike opplevelser. Stolte over alle de varme og takknemlige tilbakemeldingene fra gjestene våre. Den anerkjennelsen betyr utrolig mye for oss.

Og vi er stolte av hotellet vårt – og av teamet vårt. Konserten varte i 90 minutter, men bak disse minuttene ligger utallige timer med planlegging, forberedelser og hardt arbeid. De siste dagene har vært svette – bokstavelig talt, med sommervarmen – og fulle av utfordringer. Men sammen fikk vi det til.

En helt spesiell takk til alle medarbeiderne på Tørvis Hotell. Samholdet, fleksibiliteten og innsatsen deres gjorde denne dagen mulig. Vi er utrolig takknemlige for hver og en av dere.

Vi er også glade for at våre internasjonale hotellgjester fikk oppleve et lite stykke norsk kultur og tradisjon. Et øyeblikk de vil huske – og et opphold som forhåpentligvis blir uforglemmelig.

Tusen takk til alle som var med og gjorde denne kvelden så spesiell.
