I 1953 åpnet daværende prins Harald Oslo Vandrerhjem Haraldsheim – hans første offisielle oppdrag som prins.

En spesiell del av vår historie som vi minnes med stor takknemlighet. 🕊️

I 1953 åpnet daværende prins Harald vandrerhjemmet – hans første offisielle oppdrag som prins. Haraldsheim ble bygget på dugnad og har siden vært et sted for møter mellom mennesker fra hele verden.

Two youth exchanges. Two countries. One summer full of new connections. 🌍

This summer, HI Norway took part in Future of Europe 2026 and an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange connecting young people across Norway and Germany.

For Future of Europe, Norway had the honor of being the host country 🇳🇴 — with participants spending time in Oslo and at Skogsro. Across the two exchanges, the journey also continued to Plön and Lübeck in Germany.

Workshops, presentations, hiking, canoeing, camping, beach games, conversations by the lake — and plenty of time simply getting to know one another.

At the heart of it all were bigger themes: community, nature, sustainability, Europe, and what we can learn when young people from different places meet and share experiences.

And this is only the beginning.

HI Norway is continuing to build a broader European network, creating the potential for more exchanges, courses and international opportunities for our members in the future.

Oslo science park; where the students of life hangs out.

Did you know that you can visit public university campuses in Oslo even if you are not a student; specifically to use outdoor areas, libraries, and cafeterias. Public campuses like the university of Oslo ( / Universitetet i Oslo (UiO)) are open spaces where visitors are welcome during regular daytime hours.

The Norwegian Sun may or may not be back next year (😝), so enjoy the summer we have right now 🙏.

Have slow days where you don't know what to do, where you just walk around lite and easy; sweat in a tank top, get tanned, embrace the warmth.

Drink water, have some fruit, sit under a tree and meditate or read a book.

Lay around on the grass with people you love and just talk nonsense and have a good laugh.

Be joyful, even when (or if) it's hard; say to yourself "this too shall pass" and feel the power that only a clear blue sky can give.

Have some ice cold pomegranate juice, let the Sun charge you up, while occasionally getting hit by the breeze.

Listen to the wisdom of the seagulls by the dock, or the bird's chirping in the woods.

Be overwhelmed by the gorgeous scent of trees and flowers in the air while your going on a walk or just sitting on a bench in a park, and say to yourself "wow, what an artwork by the creator." ☀🌲🌹🌼🌷

If you appreciate an artwork, the artist will naturally appreciate you too 🙃

A panda asked his rabbit friend: "What is more important, the journey or the destination?"

The rabbit replied: "The company."
