Some things don't change.
The way you see them does.

This photo is 10 years old.

I sat here thinking my whole project was fishing, hospitality, building a guesthouse by the water.

I had no idea what was actually behind me. I never noticed the troll watching from behind.

Now I can't unsee it.

And that's exactly how TROLL HAVN began — not with a plan, but with a shift in how I looked at the same place I'd always known.

The perspective on the same thing changes with time. And sometimes, it changes everything. 🧌🌿

Ten years.

This page started with fish.

A decade ago we opened Vikran to the world as Vikran Kystferie or Vikran Vacation. And it was a wonderful time. People came from everywhere. Many came back, again and again. Some arrived as guests and left as friends.

Then came COVID and hard politics. Then the world shifted in ways none of us had expected. The picture of everything changed overnight.

I started asking myself a question I couldn’t ignore:
Do I actually want to keep doing this?

The fishing world had changed. More bases, more competition, more noise. And somewhere in that noise, I lost the thread of why I was here in the first place.

We stood at a real crossroads: sell everything or find a new direction.

I chose the direction.

I started looking at this land differently. The silence. The light. The forgotten culture. There was a story here that nobody was telling.

Today, Vikran Vacation becomes Troll Havn.

To everyone who came for the fish, who filled these waters with laughter and returned every summer — thank you. You are the reason this place has a heart.

To everyone finding us for the first time — welcome.

The sea is still here. The mountains are still here.
But now we have a name for what this place has always been.

En sterk historie hvor mine fisketurister og gjester ble involvert. Vikran Vacation

Torbjørn Sjølstad skulle bare ut på en liten fisketur. Det endte i en redningsaksjon.

Yesterday my fishing guests found a local person in the water in Balsfjord and saved his life. Thank you Chris de Vries for being at the right place and the right time. 🎣 I am happy to know you and your team during the last three years. Vikran Vacation
