Ghode Jatra means festival of horses. The day is celebrated by the galloping of the horses.
The celebration can be traced back to ancient history. A demon called Gurumapa used to abduct the children, and torture and kill them brutally. After several attempts, the people killed and buried the devil. However, its spirit terrified the destruction of the town. Since the galloping of the horses kept the devil's spirit under control. The King of Malla Kingdom started the parade of the horses and celebrated the day as Ghode Jatra.

Ghode Jatra is a win over the devil. Happy Ghode Jatra to you all. May you all win over the bad with your goodwill and best intentions.
