All of us at Tek Chok Ling Nunnery and Dondrub Guesthouse send our greetings and best wishes to Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche’s students, our guests, and friends around the world. We hope you and your families are safe and well. We are making daily prayers for everyone in the world during this pandemic and hope that it will subside soon.

We would like to inform you that Tek Chok Ling Nunnery and our Dondrub Guesthouse will continue to remain closed until further notice and that we are not accepting any future bookings for the Dondrub Guesthouse now.

Right now Nepal has no incoming international flights, but there are plans to reopen the airport soon. However, Tek Chok Ling Nunnery and the Dondrub Guesthouse do not intend to reopen then. We are concerned about the safety of Khenpo Rinpoche, our nuns, and all of you during this pandemic.

We will let you know when we can safely reopen. Until then, we continue to be closed to all visitors and there are no audiences with Rinpoche.

All bookings for the month of March are cancelled and we do not accept any new bookings for the spring 2020 season. Nepal announces temporary suspension of visa on arrival for citizens of five countries including China

KATHMANDU, March 2: With coronavirus now spreading beyond China, the government on Monday announced suspension of visa on arrival for citizens of China, Iran, Italy, South Korea and Japan from March 7 to March 31.

Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) took a decision to this effect today in consultation with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the ministry officials.

The decision comes a day after the meeting of Council of Ministers instructed the government agencies including MoHA to take measures in a bid to prevent from the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier yesterday, a meeting of high-level government task-force formed to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus made the similar decision while suggesting the government agencies to take precautionary measures against COVID-19. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ishwar Pokharel.

Kindly note that due to the global coronavirus epidemic and its possible risk in Nepal, the Government of Nepal had decided to temporarily halt the issuance of on- arrival visa for foreigners from 7 March 2020. This means foreigners willing to visit Nepal will have to get their visa from Nepal’s embassy in their respective countries.

The decision was made last night by the cabinet of ministers to take precautionary measures for preventing and containing the outbreak of the disease caused by COVID -19.

I love the part of Kathmandu, where Dondrub Guesthouse is placed. 5 minutes walk to Bouddha Stupa, 20 minutes walk to Pashupatinath, 12 minutes walk to Taragaun Musem and a short distance to countless temples of all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. I will share with you a small selection of pictures taken within just the last 10 days showing glimpses of Chhat festival at the shore of Bagmati River, Tsechu Dance at Ngagyur Kathog Zhi Chen Bairoling, Solar cooking workshop at Tekchok Ling Nunnery and artist performing at the Kathmandu International Performance Art Festival! Taragaon Museum near Hyatt has started a tradition where only one, single artwork is on display for a short period of time. Currently, a beautiful work of Ang Tsherin Sherpa is exhibited and as always in his case the work is mindblowing ( hurry up, if you want to see it because the last day is on 13.09 ). Inspired by such focusing on 1 object I like to share with you a work of nature and to some degree of our incredible gardener, Mr. Ram. It is displayed in the garden of Dondrub Guesthouse. Within only 6 months Ram has turned our nice but bit chaotic garden into the realm of beauty. Below one of many examples. Sorry, I can't share the smell with you but ...it is beyond words anyway. Visit us soon and get amazed by the beauty of nature, nice rooms of Döndrub Guesthouse, our great breakfast and warm feeling of hospitality created our dedicated team!

Some years ago I was flying from Copenhagen to London and while collecting my luggage I have realised that I am the only person around the conveyor, who is not wearing black clothes...Teej, a festival which I have experienced today is probably one of the most beautiful celebrations in the world ! Thousands of ladies dancing in their colourful saris...where can you enjoy such show ? Only in Nepal ! Consider to visit us soon again ! The monsoon is over now, days are long and warm and...there are several festivals in the pipeline ! Dondrub Guesthouse has still some free rooms in the beginning of September. From 8 to 14.09 we are fully booked but...the last 2 weeks of september we will be happy to greet you in out beautiful place !
