Happy New Year to all our well-wishers,

After a year+ hiatus, we are happy to share some updates with our well-wishers. Since April 2025, we have been gradually working to rebuild our old home in the village. After nine months, the reconstruction of the two-room house is nearly complete. Wherever possible, we reused stones, rocks, and wood from the original structure, which stood for over 120 years.

Friends who visited the place before the 2015 earthquake are warmly invited to share any photos they may have of the old house.

As we step into 2026, our next goal is to add an additional room on top of the existing building and create a three-room house to accommodate friends who wish to visit us in the lap of the Himalayas (Gauri Shanker). We are building the house following the same ethos—using repurposed wood and bricks made from a clay and straw mix.

Your support means a lot during this phase. Stay tuned for upcoming updates, and in the meantime, we hope you enjoy the photos of the reconstruction project and a view from the home.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our home Hotel Devachan. After close to 15 wonderful years of operation, the decision was not an easy one. During those years, we were about to close many times. We didn't each time. Each time, we survived and thrived because we met some amazing people who became part of our life ( you know who you are). Though the hotel may close, the relationships we've built and the memories we've made will continue to illuminate our lives. Your patronage, kindness, and the memories we created together are what made this journey truly special.

After many failed attempt of closing, circumstances got us this time around. We had to bid a farewell to the place that became a home for us and for our friends. As a family, we have moved away to another location. Nakul Kunwar & Kalyani Kunwar are taking much needed hiatus from hosting. For foreseeable future we have closed our family doors to potential new friends. Please reach out to us when you are in town or to connect.

At this juncture, we reminisce about the countless times we welcomed you with open arms, sharing stories, laughter, and creating bonds that transcended the typical hotel-guest relationship. You became a part of our family, and we will forever cherish the beautiful moments we shared within these walls.

From the heartwarming celebrations to the quiet moments of solace, from the lively gatherings to the peaceful retreats, this hotel has been a witness to the tapestry of human experiences. (If you are still reading, please share photos that you cherish of your time here). With you we have woven the threads of love, joy, and unforgettable memories into its very fabric.

On behalf of our family, I want to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts, for being a part of this incredible journey. We will miss you dearly, but we take solace in knowing that our paths will cross again, and new adventures await us all.

For me, Nepal is not only safe to travel to – there is an entire new dimension to it. Nepal is different now
