Salebas is a typical himalayan village, placed in the green Deupur valley. The approx. 300 villagers life mainly from farming. After the earthquake in 2015 family Timalsina was able to rebuild their house due to a German Aid program and is now offering a homestay for tourists wanting to experience the true nepali life. The homestay has 2 rooms with 2 beds each, but also bigger groups can be hosted
per request. There is a modern toilet and a traditional shower as well as electricity and mobil network coverage. The son of the family is a tour and mountain guide and speaks fluent english. Salebas can be reached by foot (approx. 1 hour from Nargakot) or by 4x4 (approx. 20-30min from Nargakot). Shuttleservice provided. Guests will be supplied with bottled mineral water, as nepali spring water doesn’t suit every european stomach. There are three traditional nepalese meals a day and delicious milk tea, cooked on a wooden fire by the mother of the family. The ingredients are homegrown on the family fields and the milk is from their own cow. If you like, you can join the family working on the field or simply relax or go for a walk to discover the beautiful surroundings. Your laundry will be traditionally washed by hand and will dry within a few hours in the sun. Close the the house is the village plaza. A huge „peoples tree“ provides shade for the village children playing traditional games and who are always keen for a soccer game with visitors. The villagers are welcoming and always happy to meet new people and although most of them don’t speak english, they will find a way to communicate with you. You will never forget the welcoming, warmhearted people of Salebas. Although this village is not far away from the thriving city of Kathmandu, you will find that this is the real Nepal and a place you will always remember. (Christian Slezak)
