A short walk from the lake, down the street beside the Standard Charted bank, Temple Villa feels a bit like a posh family home. The garden is full of exotic butterflies and the bedrooms are spacious and nicely furnished, with large marble bathrooms. Inside, things are pleasantly informal - shoes are left in the porch and there's a temple-shaped meditation room on the roof, fi
tting the meditative mood. It feels more like a private house than a hotel and the marble corridors are cool and quiet. Rooms are simple but tastefully furnished and well cared for - the doubles with private bathrooms are sunnier and more inviting than the smaller, darker rooms with common bathrooms downstairs. Showers are hot and prices reasonable - a good choice in the heart of Lakeside. Joe Bindloss
