On the 15th of March 2023 we will be ceasing operation.

After 23 years in business Queen Street Backpackers is shutting the doors for good.

23 of the best years any family owned business could hope for.

Every single person that came through those red doors and sat on those red couches has shaped these walls and filled this place with so much joy and laughter.

We are truly forever grateful for every single one of you.

We have a vacancy available at our inner city backpackers on Fort St, live-in position. The job is Sat/Sun afternoons from 4pm - midnight. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Checking guests in.
Answering guest questions.
Answering emails and channel enquiries.
Ensuring the running of the hostel during your shift and safety of guests.

To perform this job, previous experience would be beneficial but not essential. You'd need to be able to think on your feet and enjoy conversing with people throughout the shift.

The position is 16 hours per week in exchange for accommodation in a double room with shared facilities, free wifi and laundry equaling an hourly rate in excess of minimum wage. If you have a partner, they'd also be able to stay in the room free of charge.

Rotoroa Island is a rodent free conservation Island and bird sanctuary in Auckland and is just over an hour away via ferry. This your chance to see New Zealands icon up close as well as many of New Zealands native birds. Beautiful hikes over the Island and stunning beaches with bbqs.

This weekend is going to be BIG! 💚🌞⛱️ We are due to release three kiwi chicks on Rotoroa Island where they can live stoat free until they reach an adult weight.
Meet Auckland Zoo keepers at the Visitor Centre at 11am on Saturday or Sunday and you will be in for a two legged treat!

ABOUT THE CHICKS
Mura, meaning flame or blaze due to her fiery personality. She hatched on the 14th of January and will be 41 days old this Saturday.

Takaware was slow in coming and required assistance. She hatched on the 29th of January and will be 26 days old.

Waipō – for her dark colour, hatched 30 January and is 26 days old.
