5km joy ride from our home to Bucklands Beach then to Musick point, return 10km exercise. Cycle the walkway and tunnel passing at the back of Pigeon Mountain Primary school, cycle cross the 500m long bridge along Halfmoon bay to Bucklands beach, take some challenge run on the rough ridge at Musick point.

Want to spot a rainbow? The best spot is Mangemangeroa Valley Walkway - A magnificent landscape of farmland, coastal native bush and stunning estuary views, the Mangemangeroa Valley is one of East Auckland’s hidden gems.
The main entrance and car parking area is located at 108 Somerville Road, Howick, next to the barn. Only 10 minutes drive from this home about 5.6km.
The walkway passes several fascinating features including a waterfall, mature and regenerating native bush, freshwater creeks, boardwalks over mangroves and mudflats. The white Shelly Beach is like a little isolated paradise.
The walk includes steps, and some short steep sections, the return trip about 3 hours to Shelly Beach or short loop 30 minutes.

Rotary Walkway is about 10km fully paved flat route from Panmure bridge to Halfmoon Bay and Pigeon Mountain along Tamaki River and its inlets. This home is only 10 minutes or 1 km walk along Priestley drive towards Pigeon Mountain road roundabout to start from Pigeon Mountain. Rotary walkway is a very popular walk. It has well sign-posted and information panels provide historical information about the area. There are lots of picnic spots along the path, which is also home to the local favourite ‘snake’ playground. You can choose to reward yourself with a coffee or meal in Pakuranga Mall or Halfmoon Bay Marina at the end.

Information panels explaining the historic and environmental features.

Musick Point is the tip (headland) of the Bucklands Beach peninsula. Drive 6 minutes or 4 km from this home along Bucklands beach road toward the end, you will be in Howick golf course and Musick point. You will enjoy acres of this 18 holes golf course with a panoramic view towards Auckland city, Rangitoto, Brown Island and Waihekie. If you descending down through the steep stairs onto the beach at low tide, you can explore a few interesting rock caves on this sandy beach. Perfect for fishing, however watch out for the strong current and stingray if you swim on this beach.

Howick is the oldest european settlement village in Auckland. It is about 5 minutes drive from this home along Priestley Drive, Maclean Road and turn left at the first traffic light on the Ridge Road. There are tourist i-site information centre, many award winning dining restaurants and cafes, pubs, antique shops and some New Zealand oldest churches and Saturday farmers market.
