Hello World,
How are you all?
This is a message to say, we no longer host B&B Guests.
A year ago, we built another house on our property, which is way small than the original house, so we have no guest room.
We love our new house, but will miss meeting so many wonderful guests from overseas and NZ.
Take care everyone
Regards
John, Susan, Milan, Leo and all the animals.

This picture of my beloved Kitty Kats, Ed (Ginger) and TinTin (Black) sleeping and chilling out, pretty much sums up what is happening here at our place, with regard to overnight guests.

We have had a few NZ guests stay since Level 3 Lockdown ended in NZ but have since decided to put all accommodation on hold until we get that Miracle Vaccine and the world can be free again.

My 'gamer' son has even moved his gaming gear in the guest room, away from his older brothers room as he was too noisey. He has been doing very well in the Competion world and raking in some $$.

I miss all our wonderful overseas visitors and think of them allot, praying they are all well and safe.

I would love to hear from any of you if you are reading this.

My Tour Driving job is obviously also on hold and there were so many beautiful wonderful American guests I met that I think of allot as well. x

We are building a 2nd Dwelling on our land as well which is keeping us busy.
In our area, legally we are allowed to build a 2nd House no bigger than 65 sq metres , however you can have as big as Garage and Deck as you want. We might move into that one and rent our 4 bedroom house out permanently to a family.
That way, we can earn some extra income and live in the brand new house (Less Housework, yay!).
I will post some pictures of that project separately.

Fishing or Surfing Anyone?
I took these photos today, 28 May 2020.
It's a beautiful sunny day after a crazy wet day yesterday.
Lot's of fishermen risking their lives to catch a fish, see the big waves coming in, smashing against the rocks?
Sometimes their can be a huge wave that takes them by surprise and unfortunately people have lost their lives there.
They are advised to wear Life Jackets and their is a safety ring hanging on the rocks to help save people.
The last photos is of Surfers at Maukatia/Māori Bay, it is a little hard to see the small 'black specks' in the water but there were allot out there.
Maybe some were having a 'Board Meeting' ? ? ☺️

This morning I saw this happy family of Gannet's at Muriwai.
All the Teenagers (the darker coloured one) have gone on their OE (Overseas Experience) to Australia except this one.
What do you think his/her parents are thinking?
As a parent, I was thinking they are lucky because I am going to be so sad and worried when my boys leave the nest. However, some might be thinking 'get out of here'.
He was even doing a little 'feed me dance'.
It's so weird going to the Colony at this time of the year, as over the summer it is so busy and SMELLY with feathers and poo everywhere !
It is a stunning beautiful day here too, I constantly feel so blessed to live here.
To all our guests we have met and hosted over the years, we pray you are safe and hope to see you back here again someday.

What does LOCKDOWN
mean for us at Muriwai Valley Countrystay?
For the Goats-business as usual, total oblivion, their main concern is where they get their next mouthful of food and pat.

For the Cats -business as usual, total oblivion, their main concern is also food and pats but mostly SLEEPING

For the sheep-business as usual, food,sleep,walk a bit,more food.

For the humans- A bit more adjustment for some of us more than others. John works from home 2 days a week anyway so working 5 days at home doesn't bother him. In fact, John is adjusts to ANYTHING easily. He works in our Guest Room.
For Leo, he started Homeschooling at the beginning of the year anyway (Picture of his desk), so that is just normal for him and his Online gaming is good because they have put on more tournaments and it keeps him in touch with his friends and team mate in Australia. We get him outside too don't worry!
For Milan, he works from home too which is very convenient, he has a great routine starting with his exercise (100's of burpees, pullups, running etc), works on his business and EATS.
For ME, of course my Tour Driving, Film Work and Airbnb guests have all stopped a couple of weeks ago. I am adjusting slowly and it is good for me to get used to being home more, and feeling at peace with that.
I am so blessed to have a lovely family to spend it with in a lovely country setting.

How is it on your side of the world? I often think of all my lovely guests I have had from so many countries, and will pray for you.
God Bless
Susan

We are excited to introduce our new family member............
'Big Red'.
I found her at the recent Kumeu Classic Car and Hot Rod Show. A man bought it up from Napier to sell.
I LOVE her and this was her first job, collecting the Hay Bales from the paddock, that we just had made.
All set for winter to feed the cattle and goats when the grass stops growing.
The hay actually keeps them warm when they are digesting it.
The LOVE it !
I wonder if I could feed it to Milan and Leo? ???

We hosted this lovely couple from Germany recently, Ilona and Matthias. They stayed for 3 nights.
We enjoyed connecting with them as fellow Christians, and shared a bar-b-q dinner with them on their last night.

Norma was out last week filming for another FMG Advert. Norman was meant to go too but he couldn't cope with being on a lead😀 He went "baa baas baa" for a day until she came back.❤
When Norma got back she was super hungry and was baking and eating at the same time.

Our Family

I am Susan, a wife and mother to 2 boys, currently aged 19 and 14. My background is Dutch/Kiwi and I married a Croatian man. As well as hosting B&B guests, I work part-time for some other local business.

Animals are a big part of my life, we have cats (my favourite), sheep, cows and goats. I also look after peoples dogs occasionally. I would LOVE a horse, but don't know if we have the money and time for one right now.

I love hosting people from all walks of life and hearing about how they live. It is great introducing my boys to people from all around the world.
