👑 Monthly Quiz Night – New Home, Same Crowns! 👑

The monthly quiz is back this Thursday at 7pm at the Hilton, with all proceeds going to Riders Against Cancer.

As we mentioned on Friday night, the Hilton has kindly agreed to become the new home of the monthly quiz. The format will stay the same... and yes, the winning team will still be crowned at the end of the night! 👑

We will be there too with the rest of our team from The Wooden Spoons, and we'd love to see plenty of familiar faces as we kick off this new chapter.

After a lot of thought and planning, we're excited to share what's next for the Blackball Inn.

Over the coming months, we'll be redeveloping the property into The Paparoa Lodge – accommodation designed for people exploring the Paparoa Track and everything Blackball has to offer.

Over the last year we've learned a lot about the visitors coming through our town and the opportunities that exist to attract more people to stay, explore and support local businesses. We believe there is a part of the market that isn't currently being catered for, and that's where we'd like to focus our attention.

Our vision for The Paparoa Lodge includes comfortable accommodation, a communal kitchen and guest lounge, upgraded rooms and, over time, a small number of self-contained cabins. Our goal is to create a place where people can begin their West Coast adventure while experiencing everything that makes Blackball special.

This means the Blackball Inn will no longer operate as a pub. While that chapter is coming to an end, we're incredibly proud of everything it's been over the last year and grateful to everyone who has shared it with us.

The transition won't happen overnight. We'll continue opening on Wednesday pool nights for home games and Friday nights while we run our remaining stock down. Our art competition will continue until Friday, 7 August, with the winner announced at 6pm. The monthly quiz will move to the Hilton, who will host the first quiz this Thursday, 6 August, at 7pm.

We're looking forward to bringing The Paparoa Lodge to life and welcoming guests for our first summer season.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We're excited for this next chapter and look forward to welcoming people to Blackball in a whole new way.

Just a quick heads up to our locals.

If you're around on Friday evening, we would really appreciate you popping in for a drink. We'd like to have a quick chat with everyone at 7pm about a few changes we've got planned over the next couple of months before the summer season starts again.

Nothing formal—we'll keep it short—but it's important to us that you hear about what's happening at the Blackball Inn directly from us.

It's Quiz Time again this week!

This month's quiz will be hosted by Max & Aimee, with funds raised going to the upkeep of the Blackball Public Gardens. A lot of time and effort goes into keeping our town looking beautiful and we are thrilled to be able to support another worthy cause!

We are thrilled to be hosting Mackenzie-H on Friday night from 7pm. Mackenzie-H is super talented, and promises a night of fantastic music from the 50s and 60s, with a little bit of country and a few other favourites you are sure to love!
