Most people driving past Riverlands have no idea this place exists just minutes away.

The Wairau Lagoons feel like a completely different world - quiet tracks, still water, wild birdlife and skies that never look the same twice.

And somewhere out there sits the old wreck of the SS Waverley, slowly becoming part of the landscape itself.

Not every stop on the road has to be rushed 😉💙

Legends of the Road 🚛

The past few days at Riverlands have been all about looking after a great group of drivers.

Long days. Early starts. Long nights. Waiting, loading, moving…
the kind of work that keeps things moving.

From our side, it meant a busy kitchen, packed meals, takeaway runs,
and doing our best to make sure there was always something warm and ready when you needed it.

A lot happens behind the scenes to make it all come together,
and we’re always learning and adjusting to do better.

What stood out the most wasn’t how busy it got…
but simply the kind of people you were.

Just genuinely good people to have around.

And Johnny - thanks for bringing a bit of extra good energy with you 💙

There’s something pretty special about evenings like this.

Harvest season has arrived and the Riverlands car park is alive again.

Trucks rolling in, lights coming on, and that quiet moment when everything settles for the night.

There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes lately, and seeing the yard like this and hearing good words from drivers - means a lot to us. 💙

Little by little, Riverlands is finding its heartbeat again. 🚛

Some guests just make your day.

This lady stopped in with a tiny co-pilot riding in her backpack - a blind and deaf little pup with the coolest glasses we’ve seen in a while. Absolute legend.

She told us she enjoyed her coffee and food, and even shared some honest feedback to help us improve. That kind of support means a lot and helps us get better every week.

Thanks for stopping in - you made the place brighter. Safe travels out there.

Today we added a little games corner at Riverlands - puzzles, cards, Jenga, dominoes, chess, ring toss and more.

We’re right at the beginning of building this place into what we hope it can become - a spot, day and night, where you can sit down, switch your brain off for a minute and breathe before the next stretch of road.

Grab some comforting food or a quick snack, chat with other drivers or travelers, and head back out refreshed - maybe even a little happier..

It’s not perfect yet. But we’re honestly trying and adding one piece at a time.

We’re really glad you’re here while it grows.
