And thats a wrap! The Harcourts 'Sold' flowers are in the house.
We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm for our home and are relieved that we are passing her on to a couple who are excited to make this their home. The Saddler's Shed will be closing her doors to the public for this chapter.

I might let the account sit patiently as i have great plans of gardens and cabins and swim ponds! We will be building our new more rural home this year and if anyone is interested in watching some of these ideas take shape please feel free to linger.

Thank you for your interest in The Saddler's Shed, kia pai

And the Listing is LIVE! Nervous but exciting times ahead!

We are so proud of how we rescued and revitalized our wee cottage and gave her fresh legs for the next 100years ๐Ÿคž.

I'm mostly really excited for who gets to live here next!

COMING SOON To Market! Here is a wee peak inside the cottage - and a reminder for me of how nice it really is during the chaos of packing and sorting.

This is our 1910's cottage that sits in front of our Saddler's Shed. It was the building at the beginning of the journey. Housing Len the Saddler and his wife Margaret for more than 40 years. They raised their 5 children and desperately needed an extra room = The first Saddler's shed. Almost 100 years later, after 50 yrs of rental tenants of every flavour, we became the next owner-occupier family. We gave the cottage a new lease on life and re-imagined Len's shed.

We are not quite as tolerant of close living as Len and Margaret and with the addition of two children and Simon's business () we are now bursting at the seams.

It is time for us to sell our Addington sanctuary and build down the paddock from my parents - satisfying all of our rural yearnings.

We always intended to sell and while renovating I had the personal goal of making it too valuable for a developer and protect our lovely 100 yr old home from townhouses. I have all my fingers crossed we have achieved that goal!

Stay posted for the listing details in early January for the curious. I really hope to do this all again in a country setting - perhaps a 2bed cottage overlooking a natural swimming pond?

Thank you all for coming along on the journey with us.

Some lovely moments in the shared spaces this morning - i felt like summer had arrived this morning!
Ada engrossed in her very clever Aunt Juju's () latest creation "flowers for friends". And Rosella happily mustered the chooks out of their yard onto the veggies.

The final piece has slotted into place! Our first woodfire bbq dinner was magical ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Guests now have a much better outdoor sink option for dishes and can snuggle up infront of the fire after the day's adventures. Biggest thanks to Team Brick for interpreting my sketches!

The shower shelf - i still LOVE these tiles! You never know when you make a decision and wait nervously for the result but this one turned out nicely.
I have killed many maidenhair ferns in my time and this one didnt make it either so these days guests get a wee shower posey ๐Ÿ’.

A wee reminder for myself from last year that spring comes again - right now there are lots of lemons on the tree and the freesias are budding up but it still feels too dark and frosty in the mornings.... but I do enjoy when guests emerge to the common spaces late-morning looking all relaxed and well rested ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Afternoon light as we approach winter solstice.
We are deep in my least favourite season - winter is here but it's still getting darker, the guests have just finished the last of the elderflower cordial and its a long time until November! I can't wait to cross that seasonal threshold and enjoy the optimistic roll towards spring when you can appreciate the frosts and snow and the first daffodils and gain a minute more light each day!
Spot the blackbird snacking on the very last of autumn's apples ๐ŸŽ.

Ahh well we have made some changes in 2021 that have brought my life (as the cleaner/cook/admin/main host) into a much better balance โš–.
After having a total of 2 bookings in the three months after the first lockdown (ekk) I did the necessary thing and ditched my two night minimum - It got things flowing but made last year all a bit frantic ๐Ÿ›’.
At the start of the month I returned to work part-time after parental leave and went back to a two night minimum in The Saddler's Shed. What wonders it has done - Deep breath and big smile ๐ŸŒธ. We will still consider one night stays for direct enquiries.
PS we line dry our washing - nothing sanitizes like UV and way better for power consumption ๐Ÿ’š

Masses of warm Christmas wishes from our family to you and your important people ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿงกโค.
I hope you get some time to feed your bellies and souls, to slow down and engage. What a year we have all had to really shift and hone our perspectives ๐Ÿ˜˜. Thank you for choosing to share our Saddler's Shed journey too!
