South Eyre Sunflowers are just 5 minutes away. For $10 per person (u16’s free) you can enter a paddock full of sunflowers to take photos during the daytime. Bring the family, fur baby and even your horse! All proceeds are donated to charity. For $2.50 per stem you can take some home with you too. Here’s Kerry on one news earlier….

Hey team!

With all the new followers and the new season in full swing we thought it was time for an updated hello!

So who are we? What do we do?

We are South Eyre Sunflowers. We began this crazy journey two years ago and we are amazed daily at where we are now. We support iamhope_nz and then a handful of amazing organisations in our little township, Oxford.

We wouldn’t be what we are today if it wasn’t for the support every single person gives us. Whether you visit and donate, pick flowers, share posts, photos, or are one of the amazing people who help behind the scenes, we are here because of all of you!!

So thank you. Thank you for all your help so far, and let’s push this season and raise maximum funds for these awesome charities!!!!

This weekend will be an amazing time to visit, we have a few more weeks left of the flowers, so don’t miss out!

Book direct and save $$$!
Many accommodation providers aren't GST registered so guests aren't charged gst when they book direct.
But....3rd party booking sites now have to charge 15% GST on all bookings (even if the host isn't gst registered). This means that such sites can now be around 30% more expensive as booking fees/service charges/commission they charge can be anything up to 20%!)
Simply Google the place you fancy, look for their website, email or phone number & see if you can book direct!

Some say they prefer to book through a booking site because of their cancellation policy. The hosts gets to choose from a range of cancellation policies so a direct booking will likely be the same).

Oxford has gained International Dark Sky Park Accreditation! (Only 6 in NZ). The star gazing here is stunning. We get some of the best naked eye views of the Milky Way and only 45 minutes from Christchurch.

Dark Sky International has granted international dark sky park accreditation to the 11,350-hectare Oxford Forest Conservation Area.

We're proud of this result! But.....don't forget, if you plan on booking a trip anywhere our advice is to book direct with the accommodation provider and you'll likely save some $$$!!

If you’re planning a getaway anywhere in NZ cut out the middleman and book direct! You’ll likely save money on booking fees which can add $50 on top! The accommodation provider selects the cancelation policy on those sites so booking direct is just as flexible! And we will likely meet or beat any ”discounts” that they offer. Booking direct also prevents hefty commissions heading off overseas which they will really appreciate 🥰

Here’s just some of what the South Island has to offer.... What you might not realise is that Oxford has a similar dark skies rating to Tekapo meaning the stargazing can be spectacular here! Castle Hill (first stop on the way to the West Coast) is just 40 mins away from us.
