As the Hotel & accommodation industry worldwide suffers mass cancellations and lost revenue where many will not survive this current crisis,
the online travel agents who charge exorbitant commission fees to the hotel or Motels for every booking you make through them, have done nothing.
They send messages suggesting offering cheaper rates than your competitors, not one has offered to reduce their commission rates.

Happy New Year's Eve!
Welcome in the New Year in at North Hagley Park from 6.30pm this evening. There's live music, kids’ entertainment and a midnight fireworks display, with entertainment from the Christchurch Faerie Circle and a kids DJand local band Better Than Bacon. A special early midnight countdown for the kids will take place at 8.30pm.
From 9pm there will be live music from The Easy Hearts, The Black Velvet Band, a Piper and DJ Andy Pulzar.
When the clock strikes midnight the sky above Hagley Park will be lit up with a dazzling fireworks display. There will be no public parking, except for mobility card holders, in Hagley Park but Christchurch City Council and Wilson Parking have teamed up to offer cheap parking for the New Year's Eve event. Select Wilson carparks within the central city will offer flat-rate carparking of $3 over a 12 hour period. This applies from 6pm on December 31 to 6am on January 1.

Thank you very much to Malcolm George for sending us a couple of awesome flags! They're brilliant! Old school and in perfect condition. Malcolm ran the Aalton Motel from 1979 - 1982 when there were only six units on the property. We can't thank you enough Malcolm for sharing this piece of history with us. We're saving the flags for special occasions, remember to look out for them if you're staying with us.

We always make sure our old towels from the motel go to a worthy cause and a good home. SPCA gratefully accepted them and always need more.
