This is us. We are Emily & Grant and we are passionate about this place.

Once the home of Grant’s tūpuna (ancestors), although amazingly unknown to him when he arrived here, we feel a deep sense of connection and kaitiakitanga (guardianship) to this land. We endeavour to do all we can to restore the native forest and provide a healthy environment for native flora and fauna to thrive. This includes our local resident tōrea (oystercatchers)!

We would love for you to be able to soak up the beauty of this special place and slow down the pace of life so you can unwind surrounded by lush greenery just steps away from the shoreline.

Whether you’re seeking a romantic retreat, a family getaway, or a personal escape, our accommodation offers the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure, all supported by this beautiful environment.

As my birthday falls on International Women’s Day, then this month’s Empower Her theme is especially close to my heart: Women’s Leadership in Business: Community, Collaboration & Impact.

This session explores how women lead differently, why collaboration and community are powerful leadership tools, and how lifting other women creates confidence, visibility and opportunities for everyone.

In honour of this we are excited to welcome this month’s guest speaker Simone Woodland from and to share some of her experiences.

Simone is an Architect, Urban Planner and Serial Entrepreneur passionate about reconnecting humanity through building intergenerational neighbourhoods. She’s the founder of the Tākaka Cohousing Neighbourhood and director of Circle Living, a new company taking cohousing nationwide.Simone is also an Edmund Hillary Fellow, Coralus Activator, Mother of two and a Community Builder at heart.

A labour of love and a long-time wish of my partner Grant to have a red shed! We have limited availability this summer so get in quick!
With hand crafted interior, and bespoke touches, The Red Shed is a quiet spot away from it all with all the amenities necessary for a relaxing stay.
