If you’re an early morning riser, head down to the beach first thing. For the last couple of years, this local legend (dude? chick? the jury is still out!) has been hanging out solo. A total Lone Ranger, but absolutely breathtaking when those vibrant colors flash as they fly off. 🦚

A cool initiative crossed my desk yesterday. Instead of good local resources going unused, Game Changer NZ helps connect volunteer hunters, butchers and community organisations to get quality venison back into local communities where it’s needed most.

We’ve just donated two venison beasts to the Coromandel Independent Living Trust - helping create around 400 meals for locals in our area. Want to support a food bank in your area - link will be in the comments.

We were stoked to see the prize we donated to Hospice Waikato’s annual “Bucket List Banquet” raised an whopping $1,450 through the silent auction, combining a Shelly Beach glamping stay with an adventure at Driving Creek ❤️

We’re always proud to support a wide range of charities, schools, conservation groups, sports clubs and community organisations throughout the year.

We can’t help with every request that comes our way, but we always do our best to support great people doing great things in our communities.

🚗 ROAD UPDATE: Great news! SH25 at Kereta Hill is now open to a single lane with stop / go. After being closed since Sunday, crews are working hard to compact a new base and get us moving again. It’s definitely felt like we’ve been on an island this past week, so our little town would love a visit once the road is open!

Shelly Beach: Weather & Safety Update

Current Status: 🟢 Safe & Secure

We are happy to report that all staff and guests are safe. There are no fallen branches or structural damage to the property.

We truly appreciate all the calls and messages checking in on us - it means a lot to the us here!

Property Conditions
• The “Local” Takeover: Our temporary lagoons have been officially claimed! We’ve been taken over by ducks and seagulls enjoying the new waterfront views and upturned picnic tables.
• Surface Water: Significant pooling/surface water is present across the grounds and beachfront. High tide is due around 2:30pm with a Westerly
• Bookings: We have closed all new bookings again tonight to ensure everyone’s safety.
• Emergency Support: We remain available to host anyone in an emergency situation. Please ring the office.
