OPENING SOON: Otago’s new Kawarau Gorge Trail will be celebrated with a community ride on Sunday, October 25 (Labour Weekend). The mass start will go from Kinross Winery in Gibbston, and end at the Cromwell Heritage Precinct, where a street party and fireworks will take place.

Right now, land connections are complete and the suspended walkway (pictured) links two sections. There are four dramatic bluff bridges along the trail (pictured above), all wide and strong enough to hold a 5.5tonne digger. Suspension bridges are currently being built over the Kawarau River itself.

Upon completion, the 36km-long Kawarau Gorge Trail will connect two of our Great Rides - Lake Dunstan Trail Great Ride and Queenstown Trail Great Ride - to form a connected network of 560km of purpose-built, off-road cycling and walking trails. It will be graded 2-3, but riders should expect a challenging workout in a backcountry environment. It is not recommended for beginners or young children.

SUPER exciting to see this incredible new building over the weekend, with the Museum looking so impressive, the cafe providing a great spot to dine with incredible views, a cinema, meeting spaces, and possibly the most exciting thing is the new theatre, all of which is so well thought out, and will cater to our community so well, while bringing events to Cromwell for years to come! Thanks to the teams involved in bringing this venue to life – we are absolutely crazy excited to share and promote this gem to all our visitors and guests!

After almost 3 years of living in this crazy beautiful place, we finally got T on the .
We caught a shuttle with to Clyde and rode back to Cromwell. The best way to spend a day ☀️🚴‍♀️

We have some great bike hire, shuttles, even boat ride return trips along the Dunstan so hit us up if you'd like a hand to organise your day on the trail.

Its a great time of year to ride the trails 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️
