Sad day today. The Olive Tree is now closed down indefinitely. It had been a strange season for all the accommodation owners here. I know of three closing down. I'm sure it will pick up again. The last I heard there were 91 accomm. Places empty in Queenstown!! Now the Coronavirus has hit ,NZ it's just too dangerous to stay open. I have people in tonight and 3 more nights and that's it. I will probably open again but no idea where or when. Stay safe everyone. Thank you for your support over the last 5 years. Rae

It's a quiet lead up to Christmas this year. Not as many guests as other years. It does have some advantages though. With all the family coming for Christmas this year it's giving me time to get myself organised. I will be closed from the 20th Dec - 2 Jan then back into it. Well here we are with the silly season just around the corner. I've had a good break and am now looking forward to the new summer season. It has got off to a slower start than usual. We are all pretty quiet. Maybe it's the calm before the storm?! Upgraded The Olive Tree during the winter months with the double room have a coat of paint, new bedcover and print on the wall. Looking very smart. Also converted the queen room into a studio. It now sleeps only 2 not 3 and has a seating area and table plus a microwave. The living room and hallway now has lovely soft new carpet and I'm really happy about that. The garden has another years growth and is filling in nicely. All in all pretty happy with everything. May you all have a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year.

Here we are approaching the end of the summer season. Autumn in the air with cooler mornings but glorious days. This has been a record season for me and I'm ready for a break. It had been a little different this year with very few Asian tourists but heaps of Kiwis, Aussies and others from all over. Really interesting times. Had a delightful couple from the Netherlands who bought their tandem with them and are touring by bike. They arrived here from Omarama and we're heading off to bike the Otago Rail Trail. Meet Letty and Albert. I'll put out an end of season note in a couple of weeks and update you on the change I am making to the rooms. Can't wait!! Take care everyone and enjoy Autumn.
