Chalet Backpackers We can accommodate up to 50 guests in single, double or twin rooms, family rooms, 3 or 4 bed share rooms and dorms. All beds are fully made up.

All this within a short walk to the city centre. The red brick building with all its grandeur originates from 1904. It was purpose-built by two nurses, Mrs Church and Mrs Sutherland, as the private Chalet Hospital. In 1991 it was converted to the Chalet Backpackers and can accommodate up to 50 guests in single, double or twin rooms, family rooms, 3 or 4 bed share rooms and dorms. Unlimited WiFi, a

long with tea and coffee, a Play Station in the upstairs lounge, and a pool table and a piano are provided for your enjoyment. There is a large kitchen and we recycle glass, plastic, cardboard, newspaper, and cans. You can relax in our sunny courtyard.

Chalet Backpackers is visible past the trees on the right of High Street (upper centre). The hostel was a private hospital then.

This is Dunedin at its best! Come and visit and come on a tour of the Otago Peninsula to see sea lions, seals, native birds, albatross, and penguins (at Penguin Place - conservation reserve).
