The prep room is finally completed. This is home for our year 12s as they build to their ‘mock’ exams at the end of the term.

Thank you to the School House Committee for helping fund 2 new tables.

Side note: don’t forget about the social get together this Saturday at the Law Courts hotel.

This isn't a post about rugby. It's a post about resilience.

Sean Jansen (Old Boy 2017) selected for the Irish national rugby team.
Semisi Tupou Ta'eiloa (Old Boy 2021) selected for the All Blacks.

They share three things in common:

• Both wore the No. 8 jersey for the OBHS 1st XV.
• Both were overlooked by their local professional pathways.
• Both refused to let rejection define them.

Instead, they kept turning up. They kept working. They kept believing.

That is perseverance.

It's a value that has been shaped by many people throughout their lives, and one that was championed during their time inside the Archway.

As a school, we couldn't be prouder. Not simply because they've become international rugby players, but because they've become examples of the kind of men we hope every boy leaves here aspiring to be.

Success isn't always about talent. Often, it's about what you do when someone tells you "no."

Thank you Sean and Semisi for reminding our young men that resilience can take you further than anyone can imagine. - Richard Hall

Two of our Hostel boys were named as ‘Students of Term’ for their year groups for Term 2. George Dowling - Year 10 - hardworking, well mannered and always involved. Hoani Kiwara- year 13 - for leadership and really taking control of his houses Haka performance where they finished first place.

Well done Lads!

Every school has classrooms. Every school has sports teams. What sets Otago Boys' apart is something harder to describe – and easier to experience.

It's our culture that encourages boys to be their best.
A sense of belonging that helps them find their place.
The opportunities that challenge them to achieve more than they thought possible.

Come and see it for yourself.
We look forward to welcoming prospective families to our Open Evening this Wednesday.

13 hostel boys involved in the all OB’s ‘ hoops’ v ‘stripes’ game yesterday. Hoops fighting back in the second half to claim the win 24-19. A great game of footy on a heavy Opoho track. Hoops coach Lance Taylor was heard saying “the extra ice cream he gave the stripes players on Friday night must’ve worked”.
