It is always lovely to hear back from our Guests and this e-mail made me laugh out loud, so I decided to share it and attached pictures with my friends:

Hallo Ewa and Keith!
We are still often talking about the wonderful stay in your house in February (3- 4 February) and how we laughed at your dog sleeping on his back. Now our youngest daughter (40 years young) has a riesenschnauzer and she also know how to relax. I am sending some photos to you as a thank you for your hospitality.

Yesterday was a very busy and important day for us at Fletcher Lodge.
Keith and I were honoured to host the visit to Dunedin of His Excellency the Polish Ambassador to New Zealand Mr Zbigniew Gniatkowski and the Honorary Polish Consul for the South Island, Mrs Winsome Dormer. After a busy schedule the day finished with a party for the Polish Community and Polish Community Friends.
This is where the important and, for me, moving ceremony took place. I was presented by the Polish Ambassador with the Gold Cross of Merit (Złoty Krzyż Zasługi), the highest civilian award in Poland for my work to promote Polish culture and Polish community in New Zealand.

Fabulous, fabulous week in Dunedin.
Over the last week Dunedin was full of fashion orientated events.
Films, exhibitions, lectures, symposium, breakfasts, lunches, cocktails evenings all attended by New Zealand and International fashion designers and gurus.
One of the two main shows was:
2015 iD International Emerging Designer Awards:
28 Emerging designers, chosen from over 100 entries, from New Zealand, Australia, Slovakia, Singapore and China were competing for the 1st prise and judged by Carolyn Enting (MiNDFOOD Style), Doris De Pont (Fashion Designer and a foundation trustee of the NZ Fashion Museum), Doris Raymond (from Los Angeles vintage store The Way We Were), Margarita Robertson (NOM*d) and Tanya Carlson (Carlson Label).
The Town Hall was a spectacular venue for the catwalk and a wonderful backdrop for imaginative clothes, photos attached, unfortunately they (photos) do not include three of my favourites but, at least can give you some idea of the amazing ideas of the young minds and their skills (most of the fabrics were made, painted and printed by the designers).

Fantastic weather, all guests out and about, no new arrivals until 8:30pm so we treated ourselves to a late lunch at Fleurs, after Bluff oysters starter this was my bowl of green lip mussels, Keith’s blue cod rapped in smoked bacon in the background. WOW and WOW

On my second day in Poland I was invited by my friend, Ania, for dinner. Incidentally I met Ania on my first day in school where we remained friends for the next 16 years, when we both studied Law together at Warsaw University. After graduation I left for England, Ania remained in Poland, but we never lost touch. So, there I was in her house looking at the fruit bowl and could not believe my eyes, see for yourselves.
So, there you are two NZ connections in Poland !

Hi, I have just come back from a marvellous 3 weeks in Poland spending most of the time with my Mother, Sister and friends. It was a lovely time of the year, late summer, with warm sunny days but not too hot.

Over next the few days I will bore you with some bits and pieces, but let’s start with the New Zealand connections.

My sister lives near the historic part of Warsaw just behind the Botanic Gardens, on the main street leading to them is the most fabulously restored old palace. Facade is completely restored, but when you get through the huge entrance door into a quadrant you are into old/modern world housing restaurants and offices. Amongst others our own New Zealand Embassy just have a peek.

Eat your heart out Historic Places Trust and Dunedin City Council trying to stop development of a run of historic houses in Prices Street in Dunedin by the investors with similar ideas they say in the name of “preserving” history, but in practice letting it to fall into disrepair.
