Meet Naomi, our General Manager at Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin!
From standing beside the Robert Burns statue in 2013 to returning in 2025, Naomi’s journey with Dunedin has come full circle.
What Naomi loves most about the city?
“I love that in Dunners, I’m only ever 20 minutes away from a beach, a castle, 1880-built cathedrals still standing tall, two massive breweries, and rare wildlife experiences. Our city is home to the second most photographed building in the Southern Hemisphere, the Dunedin Railways Station, and our very own NZ fur seals and yellow-eyed penguins.”
What Naomi gets up to when she's not working?
"On a hot day, you can find me enjoying a strawberry swirl at Rob Roy Dairy with my husband and our huntaway, Chewie, or picking up a jalapeño and cream cheese bagel from Beam Me Up Bagels."
What's her perfect Dunedin weekend?
“A visit to the Saturday Otago Farmers Market, a wander through the Dunedin Botanic Garden, and ending the day at St Clair Beach watching a violet sunset, hopefully with a glimpse of the Aurora Australis.”
Something people might be surprised to learn?
“I love to dance. I can jive, moonwalk, jerk, freestyle, and side slide - and I don’t need a drink to get on the dance floor.”
As for what makes Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin special:
“Our wonderful team, proximity to the Octagon, and of course, the free breakfast.”
Naomi has been with Millennium Hotels and Resorts New Zealand for over a year and credits hard work, determination, resilience, and her supportive family - both human and furry - for shaping her journey to where she is today. Her passion for people, love for Dunedin, and down-to-earth spirit make her the heart of Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin. Next time you stay with us, be sure to say hello - she’ll be the first to welcome you with a smile.
