Yes, it's happening again.

2 days of racing this year, with Saturday racing in the dusk, then into the dark. And Sunday all day.

Due to the ongoing development in Kaiata Park, we have changed the layout this year to future proof the event. (hopefully)

This will give spectators & crews better viewing for the racing.

Final preparations are under way for the Brunner Mine Disaster 130th anniversary tomorrow, led by a local organising committee.

The final death toll from the 1896 coal mine blast was 65, and it remains New Zealand’s deadliest industrial accident. Fifty‑three of the victims were buried at Stillwater.

Programme:
• 9.30am: Brunner Mine site official ceremony, followed by a community morning tea. Parking is available on either side of the site.
• 11.30am: Stillwater Cemetery unveiling.

There will be traffic control in place.
Children from Lake Brunner, Awahono and Runanga schools have been heavily involved, including carrying out restoration work at the cemetery.
The committee comprises the Roberts brothers, Deputy Mayor Allan Gibson, Lake Brunner School principal Amanda Bailey, and community project facilitator Zane Smith.
