Things are going forward in Hamilton at the moment.
We recently got the meal delivery service delivereasy. They deliver restaurant meals to your home for a small fee. Today we got Uber eats, a second meal delivery service. Quite a few restaurants have signed up so it looks quite good

Well, it has been a while since I have posted here. I am now sharing running of Colonial City with my sister Dawn Nickerson. She spends much more time in the office than me now. She is the nice one :)
Just thought this might be the place to share a few ideas

1 politeness goes a long way. If you be nice to Dawn, she be nice to you. P**s her off and you deal with me

2. We are neither stupid or naive. We know what w**d smells like, we know what you use lemonade bottles cut in half for.

3. Don’t try to burn us down by trying to save $4 drying your washing on our heaters.

4. All of us here know how to count. Rooms are meant for 2, repeat 2 people. We will make you pay for extras

5. Night time is put aside for sleeping. It may surprise some to know we have to sleep but, yes we do. We will start telling you off at 9.30 and by 10.00 all gloves come off, we turn into angry grandmas or granddads and will make your friends leave in no uncertain terms followed by you if we have any trouble

These may seem like simple things to most but surprisingly many are quite surprised to learn these things

we have noticed the request for an change to our opening hours.
Colonial City Motel is a family run business, just Heather and John(wife and husband), Heather's sister Dawn and our lovely friend Mia. As such we state our opening hours as we do need to sleep when possible. However if you have a problem and won't be able to make it during these hours just call us and arrangements will be made to accommodate you. You will not be left to sleep in your car. we care and we will be there for you any time

now that we are selling up after 9 years of owning Colonial City Motel there are many lessons we have learnt in our time here
we recently had a young couple stay here on job transfer
he was going to work each day while she was going out hunting for a place to rent
this couple had moved from severe cold in England to Hamilton in the hottest time we have had so far.
this couple were never without a smile for us and other guests. they were a joy to have around
people like this remind us of the good in the world
we will miss meeting people like that

just decided to share with everyone how odd this motel life is
I have just explained once again to a guest the fact that renting a room is entering into a contact
this contract entitles you, the guest to use the room reserved from the hours of 2.00 pm to 10.00 am the following day
if you reserve it for 2 people that is all that is allowed in that unit
it doesn't entitle you to have 5 friends over for a party in the spa bath
it doesn't entitle you to expect to sleep in till midday
I personally don't really care how hungover you are or that you have lost your phone therefore don't know what time it is
and I don't believe that the people leaving your unit at 6.30 am as I am having my first and most peaceful cup of tea were just dropping of breakfast
I generally genuinely like the guests that stay here at Colonial City but please people, be advised, that as motel owners we are dealing with people all the time and we are not stupid or even gullible
if you are real with us you get a good deal, if you do it with a smile you will always get one back, even if we are having a very bad day.
we understand that everyone's life has issues and will always make allowances if situations are discussed with us, just don't take advantage. We wouldn't do it if we were staying in your home, don't do it when you are staying in ours :)

well, its another fine sunny day here in paradise Hamilton. fortunately we have a large stand of trees edging Colonial City Motel. they create the illusion of cool, even with just a gentle breeze.
some of our units are lucky enough to have decks and our guests are really enjoying these in the evenings as they look out over the trees and give the illusion of privacy even though we are just a 5 minute walk from the bustling cafes center of Hamilton. Just ask for units 1, 2, or studio 9 and 10. when booking and, if available you too can enjoy

one of the great things about being fortuate to be the current owners of Colonial City Motel is the great history it has.
we always think about the people who have had this business in the past 40 years
we have a guest in at the moment who stayed here in 1990s and remebers when the motel had a lot of large units
Since then some have been divided into 2 smaller units
at the rear of the motel one of these larger units was divided into units 17 and 18
we often wonder what the owner at the time planned.
unit 17 is a lovely unit with a 2 person spa bath. this unit can be difficult to sell as it is at the rear of the motel, but as it is at the rear it offers great privacy
it now has a super king bed and a 42inch plasma TV so is a great unit

Its now 2011, seems impossible that time is going so fast
long hot days :) The weather has been just perfect this holiday season
it is very quiet in Hamilton over the holiday season so we get a break and a chance to relax too. the guests we have at this time are all layback as well
Room 15, our studio apartment finished and is getting great feedback
Phil has been working on site and has renovated 2 more bathrooms,
