So you go in search for an escape that is of a place that has breathtaking beauty, a place that soothes the soul, but at the same time does not denigrate the very thing you are wanting to treasure. waitaki coastal escapes seeks to meet that need, that desire, that pleasure, that escape you may be looking for, whilst treasuring the very thing you are honouring. We found a property that was perfect in our minds; a place where we feel at peace; a place that re-charges our batteries; a place to explore the breathtaking waitaki coastal environment; and all this from a property that is a small farm just a 300m walk from Hampden beach. So we have set about sharing our perfect escape, with others looking for their own perfect escape.

We aim to allow you to step back and enjoy the simple pleasures of the natural environment you're in, after all, the beach and spectacular waitaki east coast is on your doorstep, and allow us to worry about ensuring your stay is a low impact one.

We want you to feel good about your choice of stay, enjoy the environment you are coming to explore, and to be comfortable and take pleasure in your surrounds.

We offer quality and luxurious beds, with organic cotton sheets, feather duvets pillows and cushions, woollen blankets, and linen throws. In fact as many materials as possible are natural, up-cycled, re-purposed, re-claimed, pre-loved, and bespoke crafted, as possible. And all consumables have been carefully selected to fall true to our ethos too, from the eco soaps to the toilet paper and facial wipes to the kitchen paper and cleaning cloths, they have all been carefully selected to reduce waste and be kind to our planet. We use a full recycling and organic waste system. If you find you have generated actual waste we will collect that too, but we offer recycling and organic waste bins so we can compost your organic waste on site and sort your recycling to our bulk bins. Waitaki Coastal Escapes offer expansive views and privacy, but there are still some other properties in the vicinity, a public road, and of course the north south railway line that follows the east coast. Personally, I find the activity of the trains entertaining, and as we are in the sleepy south, the level of inconvenience that might be caused by people and property are of an unobtrusive nature. To maximise your enjoyment of the environment, we provide for your use: picnic basket and rug, beach towels and flipflops. And if you are held up inside, we have provided for your use and entertainment: magazines, playing cards, chess & backgammon, dominos & pick up sticks, a drawing book and colouring in book & pencils, and a writing book. And if you just feel like kicking back and enjoying your own little piece of paradise, you have a hammock and Pizza Oven on the deck.
