A win yesterday in the Boyle cup challenge against Hanmer Springs. A cool start but it came out beautiful with some good golf played.

We held our Mixed Foursomes Tournament on Sunday in brilliant Autumn conditions. A great day's golf (not necessarily reflected in the scores) was the outcome topped off by a typically great Hawarden meal in the clubhouse afterwards. A good number of golfers were rewarded with excellent prizes made possible by the valued sponsorship of SML Transport.

Boyle cup 2026 finally got under way on Thursday after we were defaulted to in the first challenge. A great win to the women yesterday against TaiTapu. Some very close games were played.

On a perfect day for golf, 22 teams of 3 competed at our annual Hawarden Scramble tournament for the Bill Pearce Trophy, along with other great prizes in our awards and raffles. The full field, together with the spectacular weather and immaculate course, contributed to a very successful tournament which continued afterwards in the clubhouse with a great meal and awards celebrations.

This year the Bill Pearce Trophy was won by the team of Viv Coughlan (Lincoln Golf Club), Jamie Davidson (Templeton Golf Club), and Hugh Murchison from our club.

Saturday's Opening Day was a great success having a good turnout on a warm sunny day, with golfers playing for the Newburn Trophy in a Canadian Foursomes tournament. A highlight of the day was the two holes-in-one achieved separately by Nicky Lang and Allan Hanton - a very rare event!

Hard to believe that we have just completed another Xmas Tournament to top off a successful year for the club, with players featuring in tournaments in and beyond our region, and of course our ladies managing to stave off challenges from much larger clubs in the province to retain the Boyle Cup for a third season.
Our facilities and course are often a revelation to visitors from beyond who visit for the first time, and the growing number of green fee players are a statement of the increasing popularity of a visit off the main drag to experience a round of golf at a hidden gem of a course in North Canterbury.

Now on to the Xmas Tournament held in warm, dry, windy conditions (which is quite familiar for us at this time of year) that was contested by 22 teams hopeful in being the recipient of the Reece Memorial Trophy awarded to the winners of the Tournament. The other features of the day were the opportunity to win a hamper in our Xmas Raffle and dining on the sumptuous meal to cap off a great day.

For their end of year away outing, the ladies club day players went to the Waimakariri Gorge course, followed by tea at Five Stags in Rangiora.
