Wacky Stays Exciting & unique accommodations in the beautiful town of Kaikoura, NZ. Child & dog friendly. Free access to our on-site farm park for all guests. Picnic tables.

The farm cottage has two bedrooms, a kitchen, separate toilet and shower room, living room with log burner. The cottage is around 100 years old and still has a lot of the old original feature left in. There is WIFI, a huge plasma tv and blue ray player, freeview satellite, a selection of DVDs. The children's room is farm themed, with farm scenes on sheets, duvets and curtains. A selection of toys

and games are available. Outside there is a large garden with BBQ, swing, outdoor toys and a play house. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cereal, bread, home made jam, free range eggs are provided. The wagon is self contained, sleeps two in a queen bed that can also be made into 2 singles if you are not a couple. There is a shower and toilet, microwave, fridge, kettle, TV and blue ray player. A two seater settee with a electric coffee table that can be raised higher for eating meals. Laying in bed there are great views out of the full size glass doors of the mountain and grazing animals in the paddock. Outside there is a BBQ building with pizza oven, BBQ, sink, macrocarpa work bench, table and chairs. A companion tipi will be added for the children to stay in. The real Mongolian Yurt sleeps 4. Raised up on to a wooden floor with camel wool insulation, it is incredibly warm. One double bed, 2 singles, coffee table and seating, electric power points, heater, games. Outside there is BBQ building shared with house truck guests containing BBQ, pizza oven, gas hot plate, macrocarpa work surface and sink. It has its own companion building (disabled friendly) with toilet, bowl and shower. Towels, robes, slippers and toiletries are provided. Breakfast items cereal, milk, fruit, bread, jam,eggs. will be left in the fridge for you to have at you leisure. House truck - available all year
Ornate living fully self contained. Double bed above the cab and the bench seat can be made into a single. Kitchen with sink, gas oven and hob, microwave. Shower and toilet on board. TV with DVD player, pot belly wood burner. Outside there is BBQ building (shared with Yurt guests) containing BBQ, pizza oven, gas hot plate, macrocarpa work surface and sink. KAIKOURA = animal care, gardening, DIY projects, housekeeping, llama trekking guide.
Current vacancy = one, two, or couple (1 double bedroom, 1 shepherd hut) = available NOW.
Your work is really varied, including helping with: 40+ farm animals, off-site Llama Trekking, various fix-it maintenance jobs, six unusual rental properties (called Wacky Stays, eg: Yurt, Tipi, Train Carriage, ...) I also have a large organic vegetable garden, and an orchard - you help with everything, and enjoy what we grow! We decide who does what in our daily team meeting!
30hrs/wk = now, then 40hrs/wk mid-December through summer. You work five days/week, so two days off. Everyone covers a 7-day roster.
First four weeks = $21.60/hr. Salary increases after week 4: $23/hr, and again after week 8: $25/hr - (all include holiday pay supplement).
On-site accommodation = costs $110 (couple, shared) or $130 (single) each per week, and includes all bills, heating, laundry, wifi; shared staff kitchen, bathroom & common room (43" TV, bly-ray, surround system, Netflix, Chromecast + sofa, leather tipping chair, bean bags).
Why a llama photo? I have 11 llama (and 3 alpaca) and run Kaikoura Llama Trekking. Anyone here more than 2 months can choose to become a trekking guide.

The team (three in winter, up to five in summer) share a seven day roster. First month = wwoof'ing. Salary starts second month = $21.60/hour, Third month (onward) = $23/hour. 30hrs/week, March to November, 50hrs/week, December through summer.
On-site accommodation provided during wwoof'ing month, then costs $110 (couple, shared) or $130 (single) each per week, and includes all bills, heating, shared staff kitchen, bathroom & common room. Food allowance during wwoof'ing month. I provide tea, coffee, etc. and you can help yourself from the orchard (apples, pears, plums, lemons, peaches, grapefruit, orange, walnuts), herb garden and organic vegetables from the poly tunnel and nine raised beds (which you help look after).
