The week leading up to Waitangi Day (6th Feb) is easily one of our favourite—and busiest!—times of the year in the Bay of Islands. 🌊

There is an incredible energy in the air as the Prime Minister, the Navy, and dignitaries from across Aotearoa arrive. The Treaty Grounds are a total hive of activity preparing for the big day! 🐝

Our personal highlight? Seeing the waka from around the country practising out on the water. We’ve even spotted them training nearby on the Kerikeri Inlet!

Help! Cyclone Tam passed through last night. It knocked all our mature avocados off our tree. We urgently need avocado loving guests to book and stay with us immediately to enjoy avo on toast for breakfast.

Moon Gate Villa introduces its latest resident. Jack is our 'International Cat of Mystery' and has been on assignment in Sweden, Australia and New Zealand. He has chosen to retire here in the Bay of Islands NZ . He has already sorted our dogs!
His official name: 'Jack the Ripple'.
