It has been a very busy season with cyclists, wedding guests attending weddings at the beautiful venue next door, and people on holidays. We have met such interesting people.

We are so busy at the moment and fully booked most nights. We have had cyclists, return guests, people travelling in extended family groups, photographers, bird watchers, people fishing, wedding guests, and workers....Al this despite the weather being so inclement. FISH SALVAGE AND TRANSFER 🐟

Hydro scheme spill events are occasionally required to manage high lake levels caused by big rain events. Spilling can sometimes leave trout stranded. At the Tekapo Power Scheme Fish & Game works closely with Genesis Energy to salvage, tag, and relocate fish into alternative waterways within the catchment.

Over the past couple of weeks we have salvaged 410 fish from the Tekapo Riverbed / spillway — including 204 rainbow trout, 205 brown trout, and 1 chinook salmon. All fish were safely released into the Tekapo Canal providing a boost to your fishing opportunities.

105 trout were tagged.
