The new Ho**er Valley bridge is really starting to take shape.

Last week, another major milestone was reached with the main cables now stretched across the Ho**er River and much of the bridge decking in place. .

Many of our guests stay with us to experience this iconic walk, so we’d like to say a huge thank you to the teams from the Department of Conservation, Southern Lakes Helicopters, and the contractors working tirelessly in challenging alpine conditions to bring this incredible project to life.

We know many visitors are eagerly awaiting the full reopening of the Ho**er Valley Track, and from what we’ve seen so far, it will be more than worth the wait.

A Ho**er Valley update we know you are all waiting for!!

The support towers are now in place for what will become New Zealand’s longest swing bridge, stretching 189 metres across the Ho**er River. It’s a significant milestone, and a testament to the hard work of the team from the Department of Conservation and the contractors who have been working through tough alpine conditions to bring this project to life.

Although the opening has been delayed slightly, now planned for late July / early August. We know the track has been missed, but it’s shaping up to be something truly special. It will be worth the wait.

As the clocks go back this weekend, the evenings grow longer and the nights a little darker. While some may be reluctant to farewell summer, here in Aoraki we quietly welcome the change. It signals the approach of our favourite season.

Winter is nearly here. Crisp air, snow-capped peaks, and star-filled nights are just around the corner. We can’t wait to embrace it. Who’s excited too?
