Today, Ted 🐕 and I have found some mushrooms at Beauregard. Miam! Or not? Are they edible? The right person to ask would be a foraging expert like Peter Langlands . Well, guess what - we can’t wait to have Peter staying at Beauregard in a few weeks. If you want to learn more about foraging Peter will be visiting Matakana and hosting workshops on 14 and 15 March 2021. For more info check page or website or . Tickets are limited so buy online at:

Peter langlands would be NZ’s most known forager, an encyclopaedia of knowledge of local flora and fauna, a regular on Television, radio and print media. He also teaches Chefs at some of NZ’s leading restaurants the art of foraging.
In this workshop we will spend about 2 hours outside learning about foraging and discovering what’s available in our local area. Peter will also teach you how to gather, store and prepare. It’s then on to a 3 course dinner hosted by the Sawmill brewery’s head Chef Will Michell where we will dine on Chef Will’s ‘wild and foraged’ dinner and have the opportunity to discuss using foraged ingredients in our own cooking.

There are three cottages at Beauregard. This one is Voltaire! Why this name? The inspiration came from my dear French cousin Claire who reminds me in some ways of the author & philosopher Voltaire - I think she is a talented writer and also used to live near Voltaire metro in Paris. Fond memories. 💙🤍❤️
