Set well off the road in an elevated position, surrounded by beautiful native bush and the impressive Mt Tamahunga. This area is Department of Conservation land with amazing native forest and bird life, and features a walkway that is part of the Cape Reinga to Bluff walking trail. You will see & hear a multi
tude of tui, kereru, native hawks & kingfishers, and if youre lucky even kiwi on a quiet night! It features a carport for covered parking and entrance, separate bedroom, sitting room with kitchenette, and bathroom with shower facilities. There is also a large semi-covered deck area with sliding doors off the living room and bedroom. There is a full king size bed with quality linen, and also a good quality fold out couch for additional guests. We also welcome children, and pets on application. Locally, Matakana Village is only 6km away, with its vibrant farmers market, cafes, pubs, restaurants and boutique shops. The Matakana area is renowned for its many vineyards, with most providing wine tasting tours and many with their own restaurants. Matakana Coast has some of the most picturesque and interesting coastlines, from the fine white sand beaches of Omaha and Pakiri, to the rocky shores of Goat Island and Ti Point. Tawharanui Regional Park is completely pest-free and features secluded beaches and great surfing! Goat Island Marine Reserve offers incredible snorkling, diving, kayaking and glass bottom boat tours. All this is within 20 minutes drive of the cottage, and we can help with organising tours, sight-seeing activities, dive, kayak and bike hire. We are pleased to be able to offer our guests boat charters from September 2016. Dive, fish, kayak, snorkel and sightsee around the Hauraki Gulf Islands. Charters include 3hr trips, half day, full day and overnight options. All snorkel gear, wetsuits, kayaks and fishing gear is provided, as well as high quality catering.
