With a very heavy heart we have removed this photo of the hot pools from our apartment booking profile, as we mourn the tragic loss of 6 lives in the recent land slips, as well as the loss of three of our local icons - the Mount Hot Pools, the campground at the foot of Mauao, and access to walk up and around the mountain for the foreseeable future.

However, we would like to encourage visitors and tourists to keep coming here.

Local hospitality businesses will be feeling the impact (especially those restaurants and shops close by our apartment), so we want to rally around them, keep them busy, and find the strength together to keep going.

If you are planning to visit the beautiful Mount Maunganui and Tauranga region, there is still so much to see and do, and your presence and support for those nearby businesses most impacted will be appreciated by all of our community.

Drive through Mount Mainstreet past the boutique shops and restaurants with Pilot Bay to the left, Mount Surf Beach to the right, and the hot pools and Mauao straight ahead - all within 2-3 mins walk from your accommodation!

Smack Bang in the centre and very heart of Mount Maunganui, with Pilot Bay to one side, and the ocean surf beach to the other. You will see Mauao through the window, with its popular walking tracks, stunning views, and relaxing hot pools, and can stroll down to Mount Mainstreet's dining, retail, and entertainment buzz in the other direction. This central apartment is ideal for a business trip or holiday. It has well-equipped facilities and everything you need for a short-term let or extended stay.

Drenched in all-day sun, when you walk through the door you will enjoy the fresh facelift and how the modern comforts and stylish décor, blend with the original character and retro fittings from Avenida Apartment's early days as an 80's motel.

The great thing about this unit is that it’s not in a hard-to-get-to multi-story apartment complex. There is free parking on-site right outside (a bonus on the weekends and in the height of summer), and it’s easy to self-check in with the lockbox and come and go as you please.

Located on the first floor, up one flight of stairs the space is fully equipped with a self-catering kitchen, bathroom, and laundry, one private bedroom with a new Queen-sized bed, plus a small double bed in the conservatory sun room, and a fold-out double Ecosa sofa in the lounge. It comfortably sleeps 2-4 people, with extra guests on request.

Within walking distance of all the Mount's attractions and activities, just 2 mins walk / 200 meters to the beaches on either side, 4 mins walk/300 m to the base of Mauao, and the same to Mount Mainstreet - yet enough distance away that you won't hear late night/ early morning noise from the restaurant and bar scene.

Baypark Events Centre and Central Tauranga are just 15 mins drive/8 km away if you are attending a concert, event, sports match, or festival, and Blake Park Sports Grounds is just 2km/6mins drive or 30 mins walk away. The Little Big Markets at Coronation Park (on every second Saturday) are just an easy 12 mins walk away too.

Whether you are a professional here for business (we welcome corporate guests on longer-term secondments and work trips), a couple on a romantic mini-break, a small group of mature friends here for fun, out-of-town travellers and tourists exploring the region, or a small family on holiday - this apartment should be ideal for your stay in the Bay.

In the heart of Mount Maunganui and perfectly centered for convenience, Charm on Commons, Mauao is a unique one-bedroom apartment with 1 Queen bed, plus an additional double bed and a sofa bed in the living rooms.

This apartment is ideal for a one-person business trip, couples on a romantic break away, boys sports trips, girl's shopping weekends, or a small family holiday by the beach (can sleep up to 5 guests), with fully equipped cooking facilities and everything you need for a short-term let or extended stay.

Pilot Bay is to one side for a gentle swim in Tauranga's Harbour as you watch the cruise ships depart at sunset, and the Ocean Surf Beach to the other for fun in the waves. Through the window, you will feel like you are already halfway up the majestic Mauao, with its popular walking tracks, stunning views, and relaxing hot pools just a short skip away, and Mount Mainstreet's dining, retail shops, and entertainment buzz is just a wee jump in the other direction.

Prices vary from $210-$350 a night depending how and when you book, the number of guests staying, seasonal demand, number of days, and the different types of booking platform discounts and specials applied. There is one bedroom with a Queen Bed, a Double Bed in the sunroom, and a Double Sofa that opens up in the lounge - it may be small and compact, but can sleep up to five comfortably.
