As part of New Zealand's commitment to protecting our natural environment, new regulations have been introduced for self-contained vehicles. These changes affect all freedom campers and vehicle owners who wish to camp on public land after 7 June 2026.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - CAMPGROUND CLOSED - Please note, its not US that have covid, we are fine. Thanks for your well wishes.

Due to a recent Covid outbreak and resulting staff shortages, the Moeraki Boulders Holiday Park Beach will be CLOSED TO ALL GUESTS from Sunday evening, 8 March 2026 through to Thursday evening, 12 March 2026, reopening on Friday morning, 13 March 2026.

Due to these unfortunate circumstances outside of our control, we must cancel your bookings, and a full refund will be provided for the first one.

We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, but we have no alternative option than to close the campground.

So the fur seals are visiting us and how gorgeous are they!

Firstly. This lovely young lass, honey coloured with big eyes, seriously wanted to play. She bounded around as we all ran away, at first this is, and then she ducked down like a wee puppy wanting to play with another doggo. She gave up on us as we all hid away to give her space and then slept for a couple of hours right in the middle of the camp.

Then another dark, well whiskered fur seal spent 3 days on the foreshore of Hampden Beach snoozing happily in the sun. Unfortunately word must have gotten around and tourists arrived on mass to photograph it. Eventually he/she went back to sea, no doubt happy to get away from the paparazzi. I had to wave people back away from it and it made me sad. They just wanted to creep close to get photos! No respect. These photos were taken by myself with a long, long lens camera at a distance.

I think its because of the rough seas of late that these lovelies have been visiting.

We had 6 seasons in one day today! Sunny then thunder, rain heavy and then small hail, then repeat and rinse repeat, until finally a wonderful evening, so relieved for all our campers.

Well it's New Year again and although the weather is iffy, we MAY still be able to bonfire on the beach. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL and all the best for 2026. Chris & Wendy

We have great news, we have a cool coffee cart owned by Johnny and Melanie, called TOWN & COUNTRY, visiting us and serving coffees with muffins to come.

We dont have a definite schedule but for now they will be here from 8.30am to around midday most days, weekends to be as they are available.

Today, they sold over 30 coffees and we are so happy that they got such great support as we had no notice for the campers.

They are at the entrance with a coffee flag so pop on in for a great java.

The Moeraki Boulders Holiday Park @ Hampden Beach is ramping up towards Christmas, and it's our favorite time of year. We are totally booked out.

It's hot and sunny these days.

The Christmas tree, lights and decorations are going up this weekend and we are feeling very Christmassy :) New Year will be fabulous as always and we plan to have the traditional beach bonfire on NY Eve. I, Wendy, have applied for a fire permit and will hear soon.

So...looking forward to you all who are visiting and to the rest. of you in 2006, see you later! :)

Hello again! Finally we are back after some low life hacker messed up our Facebook accounts. It's taken hours and hours of endless effort to get them back. Sorry about that

Its the eve of Labour Weekend and the wind is howling. Its upsetting to see all the damage mother nature has lashed on us yet again. I hope you and yours are safely holed up and doing ok.

We were on a few days off and Chris Botha my husband saw a gap in the wind between 6pm and 1am yesterday eve so we hurried back home to avoid the roads.

I am looking forward to touching base again and to all the people visiting this long weekend, drive safe guys.

All dogs need to be on a leash at ALL times. No exceptions. We love the dogs, but both the scoop the p**p and leash messages are not getting through lately.

We accept your pooches, trusting you will keep to the rules, but if you dont, we won't be able to have your fur kiddos here because it will become a p**py chaos.
