The river fishing season in our region of NZ opens on 1st October. Its this time of the season when many of our smaller streams are at their very best. For some of our regulars, the fishing for two-foot trout in 20-foot wide streams is the highlight of the fishing year. During October, the local brown trout seem to love big nymphs — the stonefly is a classic, early season fly. The fishing is still very much casting to sighted fish, and many of our streams have mayfly hatches on a sunny afternoon.

We start every evening meal service with nibbles by the kitchen bar and then serve a stunning 3 course meal. In this case we started with Prawn dumplings, followed by Lamb cutlets and finished with a decadent chocolate desert. And of course all made in house including the ice cream which is to die for.
