Van For Sale
2006 Toyota Hiace Mini Bus. 2,500 cc Diesel. Automatic. Towbar & ball. 12 Seats + seat between driver and front passenger. We used to use this to take guests to the Tongariro Crossing but we now contract that out so don’t need it anymore. It has 2,500 kms of paid road use chargers in advance. Rego current to 17th May this year.

Has done 302,173 km. Should go for another ½ million kms! We have it booked in to replace the timing belt (due every 150k). The vehicle runs very well as we’ve always kept that side up to scratch but the body and interior is in average condition. The driver’s seat has a hole in the upholstery as shown in the pics.

Vehicle is currently at The Park Hotel in National Park Village, Ruapehu District. It has the high roof line and longer wheelbase which, I understand, is popular with people wanting to do a campervan conversion. Best offer over $10,000.

Many people don’t realise that National Army Museum, Waiouru New Zealand, is located at the foot of Mt Ruapehu and the Tongariro National Park in Waiouru, well known as the training area for the New Zealand Army.

No Defence money could be used for its construction, and the museum was funded almost entirely through donations.
Spearheaded by a well-publicised run across New Zealand by Major Albert Kiwi and his dog Freefall, fundraising got underway.
The build soon followed, and Army Engineers and voluntary labour braved a tough winter, often working 12 hours a day to build and complete the fortress-like structure – designed by Sir Miles Warren – in just 276 days.

The museum was opened on 15 October 1978 by the Governor General Sir Keith Holyoake. Looming dramatically out of the tussock and “guarded” by restored tanks and guns, the complex has captured the attention of Desert Road travellers for many years.

The museum showcases the history of the armed forces in New Zealand and serves as a memorial for their bravery, with unique displays that fascinate every visitor.

If you love a good bike ride with beautiful views and, best of all, a downhill slope, you can’t go past Ohakune Old Coach Road.

Easily accessible and suitable for riders of most ages and abilities, the trail traverses Tongariro National Park forest and farmland, with many epic lookouts over the volcanic plateau.

Revealed along the way are many surprising and memorable sights – from spooky railway tunnels and grand viaducts, to old bush camps and remnants of the original cobblestone road.

The Ohakune Old Coach Road is great for the whole family and runs between Horopito and Ohakune. Horopito is 170 metres higher altitude than Ohakune, so make the most of the overall descent.
