Thank You — and On to the Next Chapter

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the restoration and transformation of the Hardy St School House.
Whether you were involved in the planning, build, sharing its history, making a booking, or simply following along — you’ve all been part of bringing this place back to life.

Jennifer and I have genuinely loved the journey.
From first walking through the doors back in 2019, to working through plans with Alistair Daines, the incredible restoration alongside the MOORE team, and even welcoming our very first guests (former school teachers, believe it or not!).

Back in 2019, we were looking for a project that would challenge us and teach us something new — and this absolutely delivered.
Seven years on, we’re shifting focus a little, looking to consolidate and slow things down just a touch…

So, the School House has now been sold.

The exciting part?
The new owners are taking it right back to its roots — reopening it as a school, 166 years after it first began as a girls’ school.

This might well be one of the coolest things you can do this year. Great vibes, awesome community and an outstanding location. Help make it become a permanent Nelson event!

ONLY 5 DAYS TO GO! For those of you who are coming to Summer Daze remember to bring some shades and a hat! It's going to be frying like Spongebob on the grill 🥵

There will be water stations and sunblock at the venue, but I strongly encourage to bring your own sun smart stuff too. You can never have to much slip slop and slappage!

A reminder to be at the Velodrome at 12.30pm to make sure you are there for the opening ceremony. And definitely if you are taking the bus!

Nelson's bus stop is at Millers Acre and Stokes is at the Bus stop outside the Stoke tennis courts!

Want to be part of the Hardy Street School House story? We're after a casual Housekeeper to keep it looking fantastic.
Number of hours vary depending on bookings but are generally between 10.30am and 3.00pm. This is a self-managed role so good time management and attention to details are important. Pay rate will reflect this.

We’re proud to have hosted the Cancer Society Nelson Tasman both as accomodation for the team, and as their end of year celebration! We’ll also be one of the new stops on the Cancer Society Historical Homes Tour 2024 fundraiser in April.

A little refresh in the School House with amazing new artwork from Sirpa Art. These ones remind me of riding Kaiteriteri on a typically awesome Tasman day. And yes, these original paintings are also for sale!

I can't think of a better place to host an art's festival than Nelson (but we may be biased). Keep an eye out for the program coming out next month.

So much to share in one post! A fantastic article showcasing Nelson and its unique trails as a top MTB destination AND , an event kicking off that hero’s some of those trails and the region in general!
