A stylishly designed backpackers that is just across the road which means no need to carry that heavy backpack too far. Completely redesigned and refurbished in 2017 we offer large outdoor spaces, fun and welcoming common areas, free unlimited fibre Wi-Fi, free breakfast (including waffles, hot chocolate, orange juice, tea, coffee, etc) and even a wee gym for those that like to stay in shape while

traveling. Every effort has been put in to ensure that everything that you might need we have. Our dorms have secured under bed lockers and each bunk has their own reading light and power point so that you can stay charged and connected. en-suite and all our twin and double rooms have their own en-suite bathroom as well. We hope that you come and say hi and we look forward to having you stay. Bridge Backpackers is the closest backpackers to the central city bus station. We are literally across the road which means no need to carry that heavy backpack too far. Right behind us is where the weekly Nelson Markets are held where you can find great local produce, arts and crafts every Saturday! For those that enjoy getting the blood flowing we are 15 mins walk to the Centre of New Zealand hill or a 50 mins coastal walk to Tahunanui Beach. Quicker if you take our free bikes, around 17min. (can’t have the áround 17 min bit as we have run out of space as it limited number of characters) – on hostelworld and hostelbookers anyway

Directions: It couldn't be easier to get to us from the bus station as we are across the road. If you get dropped off at the iSite then it's less than a 5 min walk. Head down Trafalgar St one block and then head right down Bridge St. If you are flying into Nelson just let us know your flight details and we can arrange a taxi to bring you to the hostel as unfortunately there is no bus service from airport available in Nelson city. You will find us at Number 8 Bridge Street 😊

Covid times have increased pressure and stress for everyone, from catching covid, worries about finances, job security and feeding our whānau.

These are times we need to reach out and check in with each other, give support and kindness to our local businesses, and an extra consideration for our accommodation sector. Not only has it been a struggle to keep the doors open of little business, but they have to care for all of the guests that step into the building and be their rock in these hard times.

Staff are putting themselves at risk every-time they step into the building with the unknowing of where our guests have been and what they’ve been up to, cleaning the building to help protect guests, offering emotional support to guests in time of need and offering information and solutions to guests that don’t understand the kiwi health system.

These are extreme times and some much needed love and support needs to be shared to all of our friends, family and colleagues who are having to battle through the stress of Business Covid.

A massive shout out to Mike our owner and the owner of our sister hostel the Prince Albert who has recently had to shut down the Prince Albert to see all his guests and staff single handedly through isolation. Were all routing for you Mike and your family 💛
