There’s a new story on the outside of our hotel, with the recent transformation of our façade.

A story of identity, whakapapa and connection to whenua, bringing meaning to the exterior of our hotel and reflecting the people and place we are proud to represent here in Ngāmotu.

As an iwi-owned hotel, it was important that this transformation went beyond aesthetics. Every detail has a story and meaning behind it, creating a façade that feels uniquely ours and deeply connected to where we stand.

This video shares the story behind the design, the meaning woven throughout, and the whakaaro that brought it to life.

We’re incredibly proud to share this next chapter of our story with you.

And that's a wrap for the North Island Junior Netball Championships!

We are proud to have supported this event for the past three years. A great opportunity for us to get behind our community, while helping showcase Taranaki as a destination for regional and national sporting events.

To wrap up the championships, our General Manager and Marketing Manager, headed along to the final presentations to help present awards and celebrate some of the incredible talent and sportsmanship shown throughout the tournament.

A huge congratulations to all of the winners, runners up and award recipients, and to every team who took to the courts. 👏

Two weeks ago, we were honoured to welcome our 2026 Te Rau Hāpai Manuhiri Scholarship recipients Shanice Walters and Roera Preston with their whānau to Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki for a special welcome lunch hosted by the hotel and our owners.

The Scholarship, delivered in partnership with PIHMS - Pacific International Hotel Management School, provides an incredible pathway for aspiring hospitality professionals, including supported study, industry placement, and hands on experience here at Novotel Ngāmotu Taranaki and Haukai Bistro & Bar.

We are incredibly proud to invest in the next generation of hospitality professionals through a programme that creates meaningful opportunities for Māori within our industry.

A warm welcome once again to our scholarship recipients. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes you, and we’re excited to support you every step of the way.

Last week, our owners officially welcomed our new General Manager, James Cunningham, and his whānau with a whakatau, acknowledging his return home to Taranaki and the beginning of this new chapter with us.

As an iwi-owned hotel, moments like these are incredibly meaningful. They reflect the values of manaakitanga, connection, and community that are at the heart of everything we do.

10 years of Lisa & Akiko!

Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating not one, but two incredible 10-year anniversaries at Novotel New Plymouth Taranaki ❤️

Lisa, our superstar in Accounts & Finance, has been such an important part of our team for the past decade. The knowledge, support and dedication she brings to the hotel is truly invaluable.

And Akiko, one of our incredible Housekeeping team members, is an absolute rockstar. Hardworking, reliable and always giving her all, she plays such an important role behind the scenes in making sure our guests have the best possible stay.

10 years is an amazing milestone and we feel incredibly lucky to have had both Lisa and Akiko as part of our Novotel whānau for all this time.
