There has been a hotel/hospitality venue on this site in New Plymouth for more than 150 years. Currently the site is Joe’s Garage and the State Hotel but back in the day it was known as the Red House Hotel. The photo of the hotel on the corner of Gover Street and Devon Street is from 1879.
