Congratulations to New Plymouth Girls' High School Red and White team's for making the Grays Painting Contractors Secondary Schools Junior Girls Final 🏆
NPGHS Red 27 - NPGHS White 7

Both teams included a number of Scotlands hostel māreikura wāhinetoa
Red team: Isabelle, Tilly, Honey-Leigh, Sophie, Amelia, Coco, Hazel, Laila and Olivia
White team: Hinemoa, Kymahni, Bella, Riley, Neve, Harpa, Amelia, Piper and Trixie.
We hear it was a very intense game. Well done ladies.

Good morning Scotlands hostel family

This week at Scotlands hostel we have fully embraced National boarding week.
Our amazing head border Cahill and Manaakitanga Queenie put together a fun filled week with the support of our hostel manager Mrs Wright and Catering manager Brooke.

Our memory walls have filled our hearts with aroha as both staff and borders reminded us of the unique lifestyle we are apart of (boarding life is like no other)
Brooke went above and beyond our expectations, introducing flatting meal budgeting and a Masterchef cook off with our Year 13s (aka life outside of hostel without living off 2 min noodles)
The girls also enjoyed a quiz night and a movie night during the week with today being a full hostel celebration that will include a photo booth, Scotdos (peri peri chicken) for lunch, as voted for by the girls and “A day in the life of a border” videos being premiered...
Our weekend girls will be treated to a baking session with our catering staff and movie afternoons.

Our home away from home has certainly been buzzing this week.

The Rural Women New Zealand (RWNZ) are pleased to advise that applications for our annual Boarding School Bursaries will be opening 19 August 2026.

These bursaries are designed to help rural families with the costs associated with boarding school, supporting rural students to access educational opportunities that may not otherwise be available.

They are a nationwide charitable organisation who have been supporting rural communities for over 100 years. They advocate for and empower women and whānau living in rural Aotearoa, providing connection, leadership opportunities, grants, and practical support to help rural communities thrive.

Former Scotlands Hostel Boarder Wins Commonwealth Games Gold

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of former Scotlands Hostel boarder Zoe Hobbs, who has won gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Zoe's journey to the top of her sport reflects years of hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. Her success on the international stage is a proud moment for both her family and the wider community that has supported her along the way.

As a former boarder of Scotlands Hostel, Zoe's achievement is a wonderful reminder of the diverse paths our students take and the remarkable contributions they go on to make in New Zealand and beyond.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Zoe on this incredible accomplishment and wish her every success for the future.

Good evening Scotlands hostel family

Last term our international wāhine hosted a delicious dinner before we said goodbye to our German students.
International dinner evening is an opportunity for all of them to bring a taste of their homes into their home away from home.
With the support of our Cater Plus team the girls decorated the dining room, as well as preparing and serving some of their favorite foods.
Thank you ladies, it was a wonderful, lovingly prepared feast that all of your families would be extremely proud of.
We look forward to seeing you all again.
