Have had several wonderful guests share a wee port and Christmas cake with me which is so special as many of my guests are from the other side of the world and some of them are missing home at bit at this time of the year. Its been a wonderful last 2 weeks with avid gardeners arriving from near and far to enjoy our Garden Festival. The fun things was to watch guests going round my garden with a bucket and trowel gathering cuttings to take home for their garden. I was so impressed with 2 Auckland couples who didn't let the wind and showers deter them from enjoying their garden tours, and just put their rain jackets , wellys and umbrellas on and headed out and came back with wonderful comments about the gardens they had visited. Well done Naki gardeners.!!

Well its been such a wonderful month of meeting such interesting and fun people. Firstly there was Polly and Richard from Whangarei
who took over my kitchen and showed me how to make pasta with Richards delicious tomato, olive and choritzo sauce to compliment it. I then cooked them my spinach pesto and we had a fine feast indeed. And thanks to them I learnt about plum trees and other helpful garden tips. Then came Evelyn and Gerry from Warkworth who gave me a new way to cook my rhubarb using red wine and brown sugar. It tasted so good they were lucky there was any left for breakfast!!! They also took Polly and Richards pasta recipe with them and successfully made it when they got home.
Then came the lovely mother and daughter duo from Whangarei., Tineke and Amy followed closely by 2 sisters Wendy from Perth and Annie from Christchurch.
It was a laugh a minute with these ladies and they would sail forth in the morning and arrive home with plants and tales to tell.
It was a quiet house when they all left.
Check out the photos of Richard ( Master Chef ). Wendy ( mother Christmas ) and Tineke and Amy trying to convince themselves they they Could fit all the plants in their car!!! Thanks to you all for bringing so much friendship and laughter.

Well I havent had to get the life boat out yet but boy have we had some rain!! However it does make the garden grow so a silver lining there. My Rhubarb is racing away. My chooks will have to be re-named "Houdini" as they have escaped twice in 2 days. Second time one of my guests helped me round them up. They did take free-range to a whole new level when they explored my neighbours garden but we managed to round them up before they " dined" on succulent seedlings.
I had guests up for the rugby game against Manawatu.
Fortunately they were all supporting the Naki so I let them stay!!!.
John, from Wellington came home with a photo taken with the Ranfurly sheild which was cool.
