Friday, 17 July 2026, marked an important milestone with the unveiling of the new sign for Ngā Rau Matatiki, Ngāmotu. A special acknowledge to the whānau Wharehoka for attending this occasion, mouri ora ki a koutou. This historic unveiling was shared collectively by ngā kaumātua, the Wharehoka whānau, Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa, and Ka Uru Ora kaimahi.

We were blessed to have our tamariki attend this special event, giving our kuia the opportunity to enjoy their company, especially while sharing kai at Nanny Vicky's home.

It was lovely to gather in a home that was warm, cosy, and truly reflected the kaumātua comforts and a sense of pride and belonging. Grateful to all those braved the cool of Winter.

The Hine Takurua 2026 Collection is almost here!.

This year's collection features Te Atiawa uri Haoro Hond, whose image and story embody the central theme of the collection: Te Tangata.

At the heart of the collection is the understanding that each person serves as a vessel for the teachings, values, and legacy passed down by our tūpuna. These inherited principles become the strengths we carry into everyday life and the values we share with the world.

The collection draws inspiration from the symbolism of the Raukura, representing leadership, integrity, humility, identity, and responsibility to future generations.

The central narrative of Hine Takurua 2026 is Te Tangata.

This theme recognises that people are the living vessels through which ancestral knowledge, values, and cultural identity are carried forward.

He taonga tuku iho – Honouring the past. Celebrating the legacy. Embracing the future.

For generations, the Taranaki Māori Trust Board has helped carry the aspirations, wellbeing and advancement of whānau, hapū and iwi across Taranaki, guided by kaupapa Māori and a commitment to collective progress. This celebration honours the rangatira, kaimahi, whānau and milestones that have shaped the Board’s whakapapa, strengthened its mana, and contributed to a lasting taonga tuku iho.
Nau mai, haere mai — gather with us to reconnect as whānau, reflect on the shared whakapapa of this kaupapa, and honour the many hands, hearts and voices who have carried and strengthened this taonga tuku iho.
As we acknowledge the legacy of the past, we also look to the pae tawhiti, recognising the transition to Te Tōpuni Ngārahu as the next chapter in continuing the kaupapa for future generations.
